Spotting in pregnancy - third trimester

Hi,

I know this has been covered before but I'm just interested to know whether anyone has had the same experiences as me.

I'm 29 weeks pregnant and as far as I can tell, all going well. I've had the occasional very light spotting at various points in the pregnancy but this has cleared up after a day or so.

However this week I feel like I am spotting all the time. In the last few days I feel that the amount of discharge I'm having has increased and although for the most part it's pink, it quite often has a red streak or a tiny little clot.

Have spoken to the Midwife and have had two internal exams. One of which was yesterday. I'm aware I have an ectropian, which the consultant saw yesterday when she examined me, and I wonder whether this is causing the issue or whether its something else. Baby's heartbeat was fine and I can feel wriggling but the constant spotting over the last few days is making me really paranoid. I'm also a negative so have had three anti d injections up to now and anticipating many more if things continue as they are.

The hospital don't seem concerned, and I wonder whether I am just being paranoid, but it's hard not to be at this stage.

I had a lot of spotting with my second all the way through. It was fine. He's currently throwing the tea I lovingly made him at the floor. It's awful at the time though, hard not to worry. Just keep ringing the assessment unit or your midwife if you need some reassurance. And remember the blood is from you, not the baby, I felt a lot better once I'd realised that, daft as it might seem.

Thank you for the reassurance. I feel its going to continue right the way through so may as well get used to it! The consultant yesterday seemed fairly confident the blood was from my dodgy cervix but nothing is ever 100%. It just takes some getting used to!

Cheeky monkey - your dinner can't have been that bad 🤣 Xx
