I have has housing issues for a long time probably 5 ish years . But at last I have been offered permanent accommodation in social housing. I'm so excited its a new build sounds very posh.

I was offered it a week ago . And not heard anything about a viewing. This is classed as normal. But I really wanted to be in for Xmas. It would have given us much more room Xmas would have been lovely. I guess it's just not meant to be and will probably more likely be in ths new year . I keep constantly checking my emails and the housing list to make sure it still says offered to you.

Just so excited that my younger children will have their own space to play they have never had a proper space that's theirs. And I will have a bedroom as well.

It's been pretty rough accommodation wise so I'm so glad that's all going to change . My adrenaline has been going for a week Grin

I have no idea why I posted

That is lovely news Flowers

Sarahplane · 17/12/2021 14:16

Thats fabulous news. You could speak to the housing officer for an idea of timescale. If it's a new build it might still be being finished. I would doubt you'll be in for Christmas but what an amazing start to the new year! I hope you and your children love it.

Stripyhoglets1 · 17/12/2021 14:18

I'd try ringing them to see if its ready and any chance you can be in before Christmas as they're usually keen to get the rent coming in ASAP!

GingerbreadandJellytots · 17/12/2021 14:18

Congratulations on your new home! What a perfect Christmas present, and after what sounds like a long, difficult and stressful wait. I know you will just be desperate to get in there, but instead see this as an opportunity to say goodbye to your previous home. Go out with a bang as they say! And you've got all the joy of a new home to look forward to in the new year without the panic of a last minute move and Christmas at the same time. Have a very merry Christmas and a happy new home

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 17/12/2021 14:19

I understand your disappointment - it would have been lovely to have been settled for Christmas.

Have faith flower. Every day will feel like Christmas once you are finally settled.

I hope joy finds you on Christmas Day wherever you are.

All the best Flowers

x2boys · 17/12/2021 14:19

Sounds brilliant ,it's a Shame you probably won't be in for Xmas but what an exciting start to the new year.

TotheletterofthelawTHELETTER · 17/12/2021 14:20

Ahh, lovely news.
It might be a push to be in by Christmas now, although offices will be open next week so you never know!
If not, you’ll be in for 2022 and what a great way to start a year Flowers

oh what lovely news! I can totally see why you'd be a bit disappointed at not being in for Christmas but think of what a lovely fresh start it will be for New Year - and you can spend this Christmas planning for next Christmas. Maybe pick up some decorations cheap in the sales that you could put up next year!

CPL593H · 17/12/2021 15:05

This is lovely to read. Wishing you and your family much happiness in your new home Flowers

Lovely news, Op.

When I had an offer with housing association place, I asked for a timeline and it as about 4 weeks from the date of offer. They have to check everything is up to standard etc.
Due to covid I got my keys on the same day as I viewed the property(had to make a decision there and then!)
Good luck! Get slowly packing things now and making lists of things you will need so you're ready to go.

Daisydolly1986 · 17/12/2021 15:18

Congratulations on your new home! What a fantastic end to the year ❤

Phone your housing association, they'll happily help I'm sure.

SheldontheWonderSchlong · 17/12/2021 15:26

Congratulations!! I'm on a "waiting list" for some housing association houses that haven't even got planning permission yet so I know what a huge relief this must be, and how important it is to have your own bedroom (I also don't have a bedroom).

I wish you the very best of luck in your new home ❤️

Lovemusic33 · 17/12/2021 15:30

I would give them a ring. Because it’s a new build and if your the first tenants it’s should be pretty quick as long as the property is ready. Hopefully you get the keys soon 😊

Whitefire · 17/12/2021 15:38

Sometimes they are advertised before the keys are handed over from the builder.

In terms of plans if you go to your local council planning section you should be able to find the original planning application, that should then have copies of all the plans, plus lots of other info like protecting the newts (we have many in my local area)

All the best for your new home though.

MaryHingey · 17/12/2021 15:44

You need to start a new tradition, one Christmas one anniversary of when you moved in
Made up for you OP

I already done that. It tells you what there is on each floor and how big . But it says in square meters I have no idea how that works I can only do 12ft by 10ft etc or it means nothing to me Blush no actual floor plans though.
