Ok so having been waiting fir weeks to get a new energy bill so I can see what I would be paying and make a decision re who to move too I finally received it.

Previously with green paying 74 pound a month and I had built up 300 pound credit.

So

Imagine my surprise to just receive a 260 pound bill. From shell BTW

Wtaf Shock

Small two bed mid terrace how the hell did I use 260 quid.

Do you mean that's what you've used or what they want your payment to be?
What's the timeline between leaving one and getting bill details from the other?

Whatwouldscullydo · 16/12/2021 21:59

That's apparently based on actual readings Confused

The whole thing has taken weeks to properly transfer iver I was still paying green in November

P.s. there are no good deals cheaper than the price cap

So I'm stuck?

You can be with whoever you want but will be unlikely to find a cheaper rate for gas/electric if you are on the standard variable rate tariff

Whatwouldscullydo · 16/12/2021 22:08

They really are milking it aren't they...taking full advantage if the companies going under ajd the lack of competition

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 16/12/2021 22:32

The reason the smaller ones went under is because it was costing them more to buy the gas/electricity than they could charge customers. Under the standard variable rate price cap they still can't charge the full amount that it costs them

Whatwouldscullydo · 16/12/2021 22:44

Yikes. So it could get even higher?

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 16/12/2021 22:46

They will review the price cap in April
My fixed rate ends in January so my prices are going to rise too

Whatwouldscullydo · 23/12/2021 12:05

Slight update. Having called up because the old company continue to take the direct debits, and the new company jave removed 260 from my credit which is apparent not just one months payment but a back bill from September when they took over.

So although apparently I will get a refund but that won't be til January sometime.

So

I have effectively paid twice for the same electricity Angry

And I still have no idea of what my monthly payment will be so I cant rejiggle my budget.

Is this normal..
