DS no PCR result since Monday

DS did a PCR test on Monday as he had symptoms. I posted it at 14.00 on Monday and still no result. Is this normal or shall I pursue it? He's been isolating since Sunday. He has been feeling completely well again since Tuesday and is now so missing so many things at school, friends and family etc.

I did mine at 2pm Monday and result literally just through (negative thankfully)

Filmbuffmum · 16/12/2021 20:22

Also been waiting since Monday. I guess they are taking longer with testing so stretched. Nothing wrong with DS now, but I guess it could still be/have been Covid, so probably not back to school (finishes tomorrow anyway).

A week for postal results for my DC 😩
Went to a test site the next time and back within 24 hours, lesson learnt!

CommonRoom · 16/12/2021 20:26

He booked a PCR at the test centre but there were 60 people waiting in line out into the street! No place at all for a bunch of people with covid symptoms to stand for an hour in the freezing cold so we came home and ordered a postal test.

Yep, waited since Monday too. I assume they are inundated.

Results seem to have slowed right down with so many tests now being done. 2.5 weeks ago we took one of the DC to a drive in test centre, and got results in about 12 hours. We've had to make quite a few trips over the last 6 months and it's always been between 12-18 hours.

We went last Saturday and it was over 2.5 days. This is a huge test centre that is known locally as being very quick, so I think postal tests are going to be a lot longer.

Genevie82 · 16/12/2021 20:51

You should be able to phone up and they will give the results subject to security checks as it’s been over 3 days. Good luck x

Spitspotsput · 16/12/2021 20:58

You have to give them 72 hours, not the advertised 48 hours. I called and they had lost the results but thank fully found them in time for dd to go to school and me to work. Everything to do with covid is going a bit insane right now

ChocolateRiver · 16/12/2021 21:18

Oh no this isn’t what I wanted to hear at all. Did a postal test for dd on Tuesday and we’re still waiting. Wish I just taken her to a test centre now.

SpanielsAreMyLife · 16/12/2021 21:21

DD did one Sunday, DH and I did one Monday. All came back in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Sadly all positive too...... we're self isolating until Christmas Eve. Annoying thing is that we all feel fine.

Kingsmede · 17/12/2021 10:53

Still no results! 5 days now.

ChocolateRiver · 17/12/2021 11:06

Maybe try and ring them. Dd came through early this morning (negative).

Mindymomo · 17/12/2021 11:17

Have you registered the test online, you should chase 119 if you’ve waited more than 72 hours.

Spitspotsput · 17/12/2021 18:13

After 72 hours its a good idea to call because if they have lost the result, a special searching report is created. If you don’t call, they don’t notice

CommonRoom · 18/12/2021 16:59

Sorry I forgot to update this. We finally got the result very early on Friday morning and it was negative. I know they must be really busy but it felt like a long time to isolate, especially with no symptoms.
