@Viviennemary

Anyway I agree it's for nominations not actual voting. I expect she will be disqualified from entry due to bigotry and anti trans views. People should be more tolerant of minority groups IMHO.
Usual bullshit from the usual suspects
CaledonianSleeper · 17/12/2021 19:18

Nominated JKR - thank you!

Examples please? I'm going to bet you don't have any...

Nominated.

She's honest, stands by her principles, generous with her philanthropy and pays her taxes.

2319inprogress · 17/12/2021 20:38

I nominated her yesterday Xmas Smile

Fabulous woman & people that CHOOSE to block her on Twitter are quite free to unblock her Hmm & read her tweets. She's kind funny caring & has incredible grace.

I know it's a while ago now but The lovely personal tweets she wrote about so very very many illustrations sent by children for her Ikabog book (proceeds to charity- once again) stay with me too.

Here's tae her, wha's like her? 💚🤍💜

She may be disqualified by bigotry and anti women views.
lifeturnsonadime · 17/12/2021 22:12

Glad to see so many women recognise JKR for her dedication to women's rights.

We will not be beaten by a misogynistic belief system which sets out to harm us.

It is not bigoted to stand up for the rights of women and girls however certain groups wish to portray her beliefs.

Discontentedpony · 18/12/2021 00:04

I've voted for JKR. Fabulous woman, brave, generous and a real role model for my daughters.

Pinkmink what's the Glamour article? Please could you link to it?

Please show me her transphobia. I can't find it. What I can find is her supporting womens rights. So please show us all these imaginary transphobic comments.
hanahsaunt · 18/12/2021 06:06

Done ☺️

FireworkParrot · 18/12/2021 08:04

Done, thank you for highlighting it.

To all the people saying she's transphobic, please please share your evidence. I completely support the rights of trans people to be trans and to live their lives in peace. What I don't support is this being at the expense of women's rights to single sex spaces.

Yes, she is indeed a role model of how to behave, particularly given the atrociously dishonest behaviour of many people in the public eye right now.
inmyslippers · 18/12/2021 14:37

Wonder how many nominations she's had

Voted for her the other day - an inspirational woman who stands up for women and children and won't back down. I ❤️ JKR

mum2jakie · 28/12/2021 16:50

Hmm the nomination form has now been 'deactivated' so wonder when they are going to announce the winner??

DadDadDad · 28/12/2021 17:40

Why do people keep talking about nominations and voting? The Person of the Year was an award decided by Time Magazine. All the Guardian were doing was running one of their "Tell us" series where they want readers to submit their own views.

Presumably, at some point they will publish quotes from the submissions they consider most interesting. Maybe they'll pleasantly surprise us and mention that many readers suggested JKR, but sadly I suspect they'd rather not go there.

Bloodybridget · 28/12/2021 22:14

This just came up on my tablet - looks like JKR did come first in the Guardian poll (although I haven't dug down to check the source is reliable)

DadDadDad · 28/12/2021 22:24

@Bloodybridget - sadly, it looks like what started as a joke has developed into a fake news story.

There was no poll. Time Magazine chose Musk as Person of the Year. The Guardian frequently do "Tell us" requests for readers' views, which they might later weave into an article quoting some of the best responses. They chose to ask people to submit their ideas for who they would have picked for PotY and their reasons. They've now closed the submission form (some are making fun of the fact it says "form deactivated" on the webpage - but some are genuinely buying it as some kind of conspiracy. Actually, you can find other "Tell us" articles where the form has been deactivated even for non-controversial topics such as "favourite spaghetti recipe").

The journos at the Guardian now need to decide what to do with the responses. They might decide to ignore all the JKR responses (that wouldn't come as too much surprise for the Guardian), but it's going too far to suggest they are pulling a poll because JKR "won".

Viviennemary · 29/12/2021 09:44

Typical leftie sheep all jumping on the Guardian bandwagon. Shame it's going nowhere.

Bloodybridget · 29/12/2021 18:17

@DadDadDad sorry to have linked to fake news, but as the story, and comments on it, have given more publicity to the anti-Rowling campaign and the huge support she has, I think it has a positive side.

DadDadDad · 29/12/2021 19:40

Maybe, @Bloodybridget , but in the long run I don't think it's a good strategy to support one's case with dodgy articles - I fear it will come back to bite. We already know that the Guardian is hardly likely to write an article in praise of JKR, but I'd rather wait to see whether the Guardian actually does publish an article on its readers' views, rather than gleefully seize on something built on rather flimsy extrapolations.
