I’m a bit freaked out and need a good rant. I was halfway home walking back from a midwife appointment when I started to sense I was being followed.
I was walking down a long but narrow road when I crossed to the other side. I noticed a man quite a distance behind me crossed as well but thought nothing of it. I’m 35 weeks pregnant so my walking pace could be outrun by a sloth at the minute so I stopped by a bin to let the man pass as I didn’t think he wanted to be stuck behind me. In actuality he slowed down so I gave up and carried on walking. I started feeling a tad uneasy at this point but thought I was being paranoid.
Anyway, I got to the end of the road and there’s four different turnings. The one I wanted is a shortcut down a lane surrounded by trees that ends with houses and a small hospital. So not massively secluded but more secluded than the other turnings. I decided to phone dh while I waited to see which way the man was going for him to walk past and turn and stare inches from my face. This was a wide area so no need to get so close! There was something off about him. He looked menacing and there was an oddness in the way he walked. He had his hands held behind his back the entire time.
He then stood next to the path I wanted and just watched me. I kept an eye on him while on the phone and after about five minutes he seemingly gave up and walked down the path. I watched him get to the end of it and walk off then waited a few minutes before going down myself. Get down the path, all is well and he’s nowhere to be seen, my phone rings and I stop to answer it. At that exact moment he appears from the dead end corner at the side of me. Walks past doing the glaring thing and stops so I’d physically have to go past him. Luckily it’s dh on the phone and I just lost it and said ‘for fuck sake it’s that creepy man again. I think he waited for me’. He was in earshot and pretty much legged it in the opposite direction when I said that. I walked home with one eye behind me the whole way worrying he was going to appear again.
I keep thinking what exactly was he even planning!? It’s not the busiest area but it’s not quiet either. There were people walking there dogs, houses, cars going past and it’s broad daylight! All I can think is he got a kick out of tying to scare me!
