Please help!

I really want to drink it but it won't open.

The top doesn't budge. Not at all. The bottle is glass

Thank you! Grin

How to Open Ramune
Peel off the seal. ...
Place the opener onto the top of the Ramune bottle, and press down firmly with your palm to drop the marble.
Keep pressing for about 5 seconds to release the carbonated liquid pressure.
Remove the green opener from the bottle and drink Ramune!

Thank you! I've done it BUT I read the instruction online and was frightened to push down too hard because I thought the glass would shatter everywhere?

The marble stays in the drink as you drink it Grin

That's my most favourite drink in the world! Opening the bottle is part of the fun.

NotTheOriginalFeargalSharkey · 16/12/2021 21:28

Where can I buy this?

lucysmam · 16/12/2021 21:29

That looks like the kind of thing dd1 would appreciate the novelty of! Where would I find it?

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 16/12/2021 21:32

I didn't know those bottles still existed. Smile

Lockheart · 16/12/2021 21:35

I didn't know Codd-neck bottles were still around.

Did other countries do these once upon a time?

It was lovely Star

However, I feel bit sad that I can only buy that flavour or citrus in UK. Japan have a melon and also a blueberry one

What does it taste like?

Lockheart · 16/12/2021 21:50

@didyouscoredarling they were commonplace all over the world. Pre-aluminium cans they were one of few ways to stop carbonated drinks going flat. When my grandad was a child he used to break the bottles to get at the marbles.

jassixa · 16/12/2021 21:51

Does anyone know if you can buy Japanese chu-hai in the U.K.?! Ideally the grapefruit flavour?!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 16/12/2021 22:02

It used to be raspberry flavour. (Germany Ruhr area)

Dd bought one of these at the weekend, she paid £3.99 for one bottle!!!

OhPeeQueue · 16/12/2021 22:05

My kids love this as a treat. You have to be firm pushing the marble down, but of course, I’ve never done it myself because I’m not allowed 🙄. Glad you enjoyed it. I’m not allowed to taste them either 🙄.

Here you go, OP, all of the flavours and available for mail order from the oriental supermarket in Newcastle.

This will probably make me sound way older than I actually am (44) but when I was a kid, there was a pop factory at the bottom of my road that was demolished and the site was covered in the marbles from the tops of the old glass bottles. We used to go onto the site and collect them. Childhood was clearly very different in the early 80s! Grin

SquitMcJit · 16/12/2021 22:06

Tofu Cute have several flavours - including melon Xmas Smile

HorseGallopingOnATomato · 16/12/2021 22:22

lucysmam · 17/12/2021 06:51

@didyouscoredarling thank you! There's a Sainsbury's in town so I'll see if they have them this morning while I finish off Christmas shopping for the girls Xmas Grin
