And I really don’t want him to.
He’s 16 and some of his friends have started vaping. They all think it’s a fun and harmless thing to do, most of his friends parents smoke or vape and some even purchase the vapes for their kids.
I don’t smoke or take any kind of drugs and I certainly wouldn’t want to vape, it’s a good tool to help people give up smoking but it seems to have become the trend if you are a teen, even 13 year old dd has friends who vape!
Anyhow, I have said to ds that I am not keen on him doing it but it’s his choice, I also believe in informed choices so we have sat down and looked at the risks etc (ie possible risk of ‘popcorn’ lung and long term risks).
He has agreed if he tries it he will not use any liquid with nicotine and even the flavoured ones often contain the chemical Diacetyl so we have looked at the risks of inhaling those too (although I believe this may now be banned in U.K. vape liquid?).
As ds suffers from anxiety he has said he would like to vape cbd oil (something he has taken in tablet form). I have said this seems the lesser of all the evils and have found a reputable co,plany who sell pure cbd vape liquid.
I really would prefer that he doesn’t start and hope he chooses not to but seeing that many his age are already smoking, doing weed (or worse), I suppose this isn’t the worst thing and at least he has come to me first and asked.
Is there anything more I can do to dissuade him?
