I can’t get going again Grin
Where do you do it? I’ve tried at the kitchen island and table but things keep falling off so I’ve resorted to the front room floor. My back (which is already a bit dodgy) is aching so I’ve taken a short break. I may not start again this evening!

Living room floor, with a Christmas film and Baileys

goingtotown · 15/12/2021 22:38

Use the ironing board.

ElleGettingBetter · 15/12/2021 22:39

Living room floor, baileys and a Christmas film like the above poster.

It does kill my back though. I’m doing mine on Tuesday when the kids are with their dad, I can’t wait!

Inmypjsagain · 15/12/2021 22:39

Living room floor for me too and I’m always surprised now much it hurts the back!

bluesky45 · 15/12/2021 22:43

I did my first lot on the living room floor with a Christmas film but then I did the 2nd lot stood at the kitchen table, with the help of my 2 year old. Much preferred it. He held the paper and passed me tags and fetched presents from the sofa. He was much more helpful than expected!

Bellie99 · 15/12/2021 22:46

I've discovered that using the ironing board works so much better. Stopped my backache and hip ache from either kneeling or sitting at angles on the floor. Revolutionary! Managed it all in a couple of hours rather than and hour at a time over a couple of days

Living room floor, with a Christmas film and Baileys
Snap!
jackstini · 15/12/2021 22:52

Ironing board is bloody genius!!

Gettingusedtothelimelight · 15/12/2021 22:59

Have used the ironing board for the past 4 years. So much easier and no backache!!

Taytocrisps · 15/12/2021 23:00

Dining table

CeeceeBloomingdale · 15/12/2021 23:02

I stand and use the bed as a table

tinkerbellvspredator · 15/12/2021 23:03

Buy a load of reusable fabric present bags (or make some - this obviously is a more long term solution). Takes about 5 minutes to wrap everything. I'm so glad I did this last year and looking forward to 'wrapping' a lot more this year.
I also use the same bags for birthdays this year, may need to invest in a few less christmassy ones.

TheChosenTwo · 15/12/2021 23:04

We don’t own an ironing board Grin
Plus I always seem to need so much space, I use a lot of ribbons and bows etc and want them all in easy reach so the big floor space suits me.
I have tidied up and shoved all the boxes back in the cupboards, I shall resume tomorrow! I lit a fire earlier and I was sweating Envy

I must have wrapped 100 Christmas presents over the past two days.

Mixture of table and floor. Christmas mix on Spotify, lights on tree etc, fine.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 15/12/2021 23:06

We have a coffee table that's basically the same one as Monica's in friends. Part of the appeal was the size for wrapping gifts at. It's ever so handy.

mrsmacmc · 15/12/2021 23:07

Sitting on the couch with the ironing board up as my station

HohohoCoughCough · 15/12/2021 23:08

Living room floor. I don't do it all in one go either. Its boring and is uncomfortable

Heruka · 15/12/2021 23:09

I like these tips! The thing that I struggle with is hauling them all out each time I do a bit of wrapping, anyone got any good solutions for that?! I feel like I need to see them all in their respective piles for comparison, I forget what I have in between wrapping episodes.

TuftyMarmoset · 15/12/2021 23:17

Desk but I move the other stuff out of the way first

elQuintoConyo · 15/12/2021 23:24

Fabric bags as per a pp, different sizes, and differing sizes, also, of hemmed bolts of fabric tied up with ribbon. It all gets packed away with the decs in January.

Piss easy to make. 5 minutes to "wrap". I've made name tags out of air-drying clay (uber cheap and I used xmas-themed biscuit cutters), or felt initials.

Cosywosy · 15/12/2021 23:26

On the floor over several nights. More manageable and less back pain 😊

Largethighsbadeyes · 15/12/2021 23:28

Dining table. Floor of the living room is much nicer and more festive but back breaking

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 15/12/2021 23:30

My bed, watching Xmas film on TV and drinking coffee.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 16/12/2021 03:32

I used to utilise the living room floor, but this year I’ve been using my bed as it’s easier and hurts less. The soft surface isn’t ideal, obviously, but I have discovered that sciatica is more insistent than my desire for perfect foods and creases :o

In my dream lottery-win house I have a dining room and a table than would enable me to wrap more sedately. I have a small handful of stuff left to wrap, and will probably do it on Saturday evening.

SeaToSki · 16/12/2021 04:00

I do a big sort into cardboard boxes (one for each child or family group) and then write a list of what is in what box, this then generates a list of what is left to buy (puzzle for dd, book for ds, gift card for nephew etc)
I then pull one box out at a time and wrap. Gifts from santa go back in the box until xmas eve and all the other gifts go under the tree. If I have to deliver some, they go in bags by the front door so I dont forget to take them.
The wrapping varies between the floor, a desk and once the bed. I love the idea of the ironing board. I also pre cut a load of sellotape strips and stick them up my arm. It makes the whole how do you hold the edges of the paper together while wrestling the sellotape cutting a bit easier. I also bulk wrap and then go back and fuss with bows and ribbons afterwards as the decorative bits mess up the flow
