Implant

This should probably go in health but thought more traffic here.

Am getting dental implant next week in front tooth (currently has crown which is on its way out).

So I've had some info from dentist saying to be careful after etc but friend who lives near dentist asked me out for drinks/dinner same night. Should I decline or should I wait and see? Implant appointment is for 1.30pm.

Is the implant being placed or are you just having the tooth out?
Normally the tooth comes out and is left to heal for a couple of months.
If you have an extraction as long as it's straightforward you'll be a sore but if its' being done in the afternoon you may have a bit of bleeding/oozing.
If the implant is being placed expect to be a bit swollen and achy.
Some people are absolutely fine, it really depends on the individual but check what you are having done.

@MillyMollyMardy - it's being placed and I think the remainder (nerve?) don't know much about it, is coming out. It's the final stage in the process anyway.

I've read to avoid alcohol for anything up to 48-72 hours afterwards!

If it’s going in you’ll be fine for the night out.

Why don't you ring the dental surgery and see what they advise? I'm sure they won't mind!

It sounds more like you're having a root canal and post crown than an implant.Definitely call them and ask what you're having done.

If it's root canal and a crown being finished off you'll be fine to go out.

If you are having a temporary crown be careful if you're having a curry they can stain.
