DD11 is dog obsessed but we'll never be in a position for her to have a pet of her own.

Her birthday is coming up and she wants to be surrounded by dogs!

I know of cat-cafes but is there anything out there where she can get a dog fix?!

Take her to a dog show.

Well that was easy! And there is one happening near us in April. I knew the power of Mumsnet would come through. Thanks @Heartdogs x

Our local greyhound rehoming kennels, like many nationally I believe, have weekly Sunday walks where local owners bring their dogs but they also have volunteers to take out the dogs who are waiting for homes.

Brilliant! My DD10 is never happier than when she is at a dog show.

There is a golden retriever experience (i cant remember where) it looks fab

Do you have a local community Facebook page. I'd happily let you and your daughter tag along on our dog walks at the weekends etc. You could see if anyone local would do similar? Could you ask a dog trainer if they needed a volunteer/work experience trainee to help with puppy classes etc?

How about borrowmydoggie?

StillMedusa · 15/12/2021 00:40

Maybe not for her birthday, but do take her to Discover Dogs at Crufts (either at the London or Birmingham show)
Honestly it;s the best day out for dog lovers! We went to find a breed for us (and ended up on a waiting list for a rare breed!) but I would go every year for the sheer pleasure of meeting literally hundreds of different dog breeds... it's an ace day out!

Second Crufts!

Dog cafes exist as well. DD loves dogs and sometimes goes to a dog cafe in her university city.

We have also gone to a dog rescue place and walked dogs, and walked greyhounds at a greyhound rescue place.

Yes, borrow my doggy and similar sites.
