Urgent help needed for travel

Need some help because DH is an idiot.

We are due to fly to Maldives with Etihad on 16th. Maldives requires 1 month passport validity. We are transiting through UAE for 2 hours so likely just go plane to plane.

DH will have 5 months and 30 days validity on his airport. There’s no same day appointments near us and if he travels to one he’d have to miss work which he doesn’t want to do.

Does anyone know if this would cause an issue as it’s so close to the cut off?

Did you mean Maldives requires six months validity, (not one month as you stated) -- otherwise I'm afraid I don't see the problem?

And if you're in transit you don't normally go through passport control IME.

We are direct with BA on the way home and can’t imagine an issue getting back.

@SiobhanSharpe Maldives says 1 month, but a disclaimer that a lot of airlines may require you to have 6 months.

As we are flying Etihad, I wasn’t sure if they’d apply the UAE rules despite not hitting PP control

Etihad might have information about that on its website, or you could call Customer Services to check?
It's better to have a clear answer. If it's OK it will put your mind at rest but if they insist on six months validity then your DH will just have to take a day off work to get it done. Better that than lose the holiday!
