Does anyone else's house turn into Armageddon when they have a sick day?

Have been in bed for ONE day because I feel so bloody awful. (PCR has been ordered. Lat flos are negative)

Sore throat, raging headache, glands up, aches & pains. I have not had one sick day this whole year. I'm still feeling really crappy today.

I get up to make some tea and make sure DS actually sees an adult before going to school...

The washing machine has been stuffed so full, it's a wonder the drum has managed to do a wash.

There are piles of crap EVERYWHERE.

The younger DC has just told me they need to do their homework for TODAY.

There's mud all over the ground floor from boots/dog

The sink is full of debris.

One day. That's all. One. Fucking. Day. FML.

Same in my house, OP.

One day off from the general upkeep of the house and it turns in to a dump.

You're absolutely not being horrible pointing it out to DH, he's an adult and more than capable of keeping the house ticking over while you're unable to.
It's laziness that has gotten it to that state, nothing else.
He can't be bothered to do the chores properly.

I hope you feel better soon.

Yes, mine. I'm a lone parent.

Although, when the dc's are ill it's the only time my house is tidy.

Crabwoman · 14/12/2021 08:28

No, it's probably more organised. I'm a chaotic mare 🙈

Inastatus · 14/12/2021 08:29

I remember when I had very bad flu...dh was a work. Kids at home as it was school holidays. They were ten and twelve so not babies...they were fine to watch telly and I ordered them a takeaway pizza as I couldn't cook! Dh is used to coming home to a clean house but that day he came home to absolute carnage! I heard him gasp in shock as he walked into the kitchen! He did clear it up but yep, if I take a day off the house descends into chaos quickly

Yes. Just to warn you, I has a negative lft with those symptoms and positive pcr. You must rest, everyone fed no ones dead.

It doesn’t sound like armageddon to me, it sounds like a pretty normal family weekday morning. Dishes in the sink isn’t on though.

nomoneytree · 14/12/2021 08:48

Same here. Demotivating.

DappledThings · 14/12/2021 08:54

I was in bed for most of 3 days last week. Things still got done. The children were fed and dressed and older one did some home school. Kitchen and lounge were tidied, a wash was done.

Your description doesn't sound too bad really.
