Show cancelled but refund (in vouchers) won't buy equivalent tickets

I had tickets for a show on Friday, which I've just heard have been cancelled. They haven't said why but I'm assuming people involved have Covid as it's off for 10 days.

I bought them in a Balck Friday offer. TBH full price London theatre tickets are out of my reach.

So, I have £50 of vouchers but to buy the same tickets for another night will cost £120. I wouldn't have bought them at that price.

Do you think it's worth trying to "insist" they replace with equivalent tickets or refund cash rather than refund the price laid in vouchers?

The issue I have is that I have £50 I can't spend without adding £££

Yes, if you bought them directly. I would insist.

That’s very unfair. They should be offering replacement tickets, not vouchers.

Yeah, I think you can insist on a cash refund as per the link above. I don't think you could ask them to give vouchers worth more than you paid originally, so full refund seems like the best option.

They need to offer an alternative night.

So,I just asked for a refund or equivalent tickets and they refunded straightaway as it it was completely normal, but nowhere on the email did it say a refund was an option.

They were just chancing their arm and hoping people don't ask.
