Bit alarmed that Ì can't remember much about this recent news story

It was within the last year I think, possibly the last 6 months. A large building collapsed, or maybe disappeared into a sink hole? People died but it was said that there had been cracks seen in the ground outside the building not long before the tragedy.

I think it was in Western Europe in a city we've all heard of. Or maybe it was the States.

See, I can hardly remember anything about it although it was a huge story at the time.

Can anyone remind me?

The one in Miami? The apartment block collapse?

Anomelettefortheroad · 13/12/2021 23:09

I think it was miami.

LostThePot · 13/12/2021 23:09

Was it in Miami? Something to do with an underground car park or swimming pool contributing to the collapse?

YourVagesty · 13/12/2021 23:09

I don't know but I'm place marking because I need to know Confused

It was in America, Miami I think, down by the beach.

I remember thinking at the time, that it was odd that there wasn't a thread on MN about it. It didn't disappear into a sinkhole - if it's the one in Florida you mean. The structure of the building failed. Inspectors had been on site that week (day?) assessing the damage & repairs needed. Apparently the delay in getting works done was down to the management company.

Thanks everyone ... it was Miami. The cracks had something to do with a swimming pool iirc. 98 people died. Only in June.
