I'm thinking of buying one for DH as he gets back pain but not sure whether it's best to start with the less painful version! Has anyone got one and wished they'd gone for a pointier version?

I've actually just got a cheaper version from Amazon for my husband for Xmas as I'm not sure how much he'll use it!

Watching with interest!

I've got the orange one which is the middle level. I'm really not sure I fancy the black one, but I think the middle level is a good start. You just have to remember to breath and it does become easier!
Plus they suggest you start with a layer of clothing between you and the mat.

I think mine is medium spikiness. I really like it, it is very relaxing. I don't think I would want a spikier one, the first few moments are a bit uncomfortable, but once you relax in it's great. I wouldn't want a more uncomfortable start.

I jumped straight in on black, I think the key is to accept and breathe through the initial pain . It has completely changed my sleep, allowing me to sleep on both sides without waking up in pain… I’ve had decades of low level chronic back pain, I wouldn’t say this has made it go away but it certainly improves sleep- I actually fall asleep on it although the first 5 mins can be challenging! Good luck!

I love mine, just bought the standard one.

How long do you have to lie on them to have an effect?

Pashazade · 13/12/2021 17:59

I usually do about 20 mins and have been known to drop off whilst lying on it! 😁

I have the medium and I love it. Even DH uses it now. He is very sensitive and even struggled with basic back massages when I first met him. He will now happily lie down it and drop off to sleep.
I think if you haven't used one before you will get used to whatever level you first try. As pp have said you need to get through the initial first minutes where it can be uncomfortable but then is actually wonderful. I often use mine in bed if I'm feeling tense or physically wound up and fall asleep on it for a few hours before half waking and chucking it on the floor.

Thanks all! I'll get the medium one.
