Life/Mindset Coach

Can anyone please tell me how these work?

I’ve come across a few over on Instagram and I don’t get them.
The ones I’ve seen have no qualifications and there whole business plan is telling others how to be motivated and positive.

If you are a life coach or used one, what do they do apart from tell everyone how to be positive.

What do Psychologists think of these life/mindset coaches?

I do life coaching and I definitely don’t go round telling people to be positive all the time!

Basically my clients tell me that they want their life to change and I use coaching techniques to help them work out how they want their life to change and help them plan how to make it happen - for example, if they want to land a different job, find themselves after having kids or write a book.

I used to be a coach working in talent and development in a large corporate organisation, and started off doing career coaching, but I shifted to life coaching as it gives me the opportunity to work with the whole person, rather than in just one area of their life in isolation.

A good life coach will generally offer you a free call (a discovery call or chemistry review) to check if you can work together before any money changes hands. Coaching is very personal and not every coach will suit every client.

The only life coach I know is also a clinical psychologist, so I'm guessing she's okay with it.
