Do you believe in fate?

I had a situation which i really wanted to work out and it didn't and looking back it was really lucky it didn't and put me in a good direction

OP posts:

Yes to some extent I do.

Joystir59 · 12/12/2021 20:35

Yes. Don't believe anything is just coincidence.

FindingMeno · 12/12/2021 20:38

Without a doubt.

Scarfonthestairs · 12/12/2021 20:42

Yes I do. We went through the adoption process. We live in one "country" of the UK. Our son was in another. His social worker rang ours about another family who said no. Our social worker said she knew another family who would be perfect and the rest is history. If other social worker hadn't have phoned ours about a completly different couple he would never have been Our son.

DingADingADingDong · 12/12/2021 20:55

That's lovely @Scarfonthestairs

Idolovetrees · 12/12/2021 20:55

Was it a job OP? It's hard when you're in it and you really want it but deep down you know it's probably fate steering you in a different direction.

FireworkParrot · 12/12/2021 20:59

Not in the slightest. I can understand why it would be nice to think some things were "meant to be" but I believe we make the best out of the situations we're presented with. If it didn't happen the way it did, most things would have still been ok and you'd have made the best out of the other situation.

Anordinarymum · 12/12/2021 21:10

Not really, but I do believe in Karma

That's lovely luck for you of course, but is it really 'fate' in the sense of something predetermined by a higher power/destiny? In that sense, I suppose fate is really something slightly unusual which works out well - in which case I'm sure everyone has examples. Eg I happened to have an earlier break than usual yesterday and saw something I've been looking for for ages being given away on facebook, and I got it. So in that sense I see fate as merely a set of coincidences which work out well. Fate can be seen as negative as well, of course - and explained in just the same way. Unless you believe in a higher power selecting good and bad things to happen to people. Which I don't.

I wish fate and karma existed, but it really doesn't.

EightWheelGirl · 12/12/2021 21:19

Tbh I question people’s reasoning skills if they tell me they believe in fate.

Laiste · 12/12/2021 21:37

No i believe in neither.

What karma is there for these bastards who hurt kids.

Why did karma give DH and i a pregnancy loss?

When i was a teen and naive and had a nice life without any major trauma i would happily have said yes to fate and yes to karma. Now? No. Things aren't ''meant to be''.

Life is what it is. The universe doesn't hand out what we ''deserve'' - good OR bad.

If something good does come your way then treasure it and if you're going through shit then try and be strong and get through it.
