It's very hard not to talk through such a big emotional (and financial!) purchase with your partner. I've not told anyone (although will closer to the date as will need to pull some logistical strings) as I don't pick it up for a month and I don't think I'll give it till Feb

I also am second doubting how much it coat and the style!

Yes we've spoken about it before and been together 5 years.

Benefit of being two women for us is that both of us have been able to have that chat, and do things like window shop for rings together

I think it will still be a bit of a suprise for the actual proposal but not the idea of being married or engaged if that makes sense?

Make sure it is going to fit - I was given mine and had to wear it on my pinkie until I could get it sized up ( over the Christmas holidays)!!

I had to buy my own ring bc someone 'forgot' his wallet! I did get to choose it though. And we merged bank accounts (to my benefit) so all was well in the end. And it's a good 'isn't your dad an airhead?' family story.

Aw how exciting OP! Don't doubt yourself, I'm sure you know her likes well, especially if you've been window shopping together. And worst come to worst it can always be exchanged, no harm done!

Choosing your own ring isn't for everyone, DH chose mine, I had no idea, and it would definitely have taken some of the magic out of it for me if he'd proposed without a ring and then I'd chosen my own (plus I wouldn't have spent so much 😂).
