Torn(?) calf muscle

Poor DH was running for a train and has seriously damaged his calf muscle - we're assuming it's more than a 'pull' as he can't walk on it at all and is in serious pain.

We managed to get him home and he's now on the sofa with ice but not sure if there is anything else he can do other than rest it?

Dr Google says rest and ice but he honestly can't move at all and it seems so serious not to see someone.

He's currently gearing himself up to calling 111 but wondered if anyone has any advice please?

Could be his Achilles’ tendon? In which case he needs seeing as could need surgery.

Thanks @CovidCorvid, doesn't think it's his Achilles as he can move his foot fine, up and down and rotate it.

His knee is also fine, just his calf that is painful.

You can still move the foot with a ruptured Achilles and it wouldn’t affect the knee. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4655731/

I've done this several times while running. Once, it was so painful I thought I was going to have to get someone to collect me and I was only about 200 meters from home. It can take a week or so before it stopped being painful to walk and 6-8 weeks to get fully better and it's ok to run again. I'm not sure what a gp would do to be honest. Might be better for your DH to see a sports physio? (But I'm not medically trained so can only talk about my experience.)
