Tiny travel tip for out of towners going to London

You don't need a ticket, an oyster card or an app to travel on the tube (and the bus, I assume). You just tap your bank card to enter and exit, and it automatically caps your daily spend. Magic!

Also if you have a long wait at King's Cross Station, the Costa in the Premier Inn just out of the door and slightly round the corner is a relatively calm oasis.

Also if you're beauty shopping, the little pharmacy at the back of Selfridges beauty floor has fabulous French and other pharmacy brands unavailable anywhere else.

You don't even need your debit card, just your phone (and if travel enabled in settings you don't need to even open it, just tap as you would with a card and go) which most people have in their hand / easily accessible.

It's also worth checking walking distances between tube stops and destinations before doing multiple line changes. Things can be surprisingly close on foot.

Yes it's the most glorious feeling when you smugly beat the tube map :)

The tube doesn’t go everywhere, particularly south of the river, but buses do. What do you do if you don’t know which bus to catch, though, or from where? Google maps is your friend. It figures everything out for you and directs you to the correct stop. Very clever.
