Morning all! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just finishing my first cuppa. It's completely silent down here, just how I like it first thing!

I'm going to shift and put the washer on for the girls' uniforms in a minute or two.

We're going to finish putting the decorations up today, I think. And I want to wash either the sofa or chair cushions. There's ironing to get out of the way too. The most important job is one final check of a job application then keep everything crossed once I've pressed the submit button!

Dd1's been teaching herself to code so I'm going to suggest that she keeps a record somehow of what she's been doing & help with that if she wants/needs me to (probably not!)

I think dd2's cooking tonight (with supervision). It'll be honey bbq chicken no doubt!

Other than that, there are no plans for today so hopefully it'll be quite relaxing.

What about all of you? Xmas Smile

Still lazing in bed which is a rare occurrence. DD playing in her room, got to pop out and pick up some cheese from the local garden centre and some more Pringles which are all I can manage to eat currently. Looking forward to a really lazy day as the next 2 weeks are absolutely manic!

InnPain · 11/12/2021 10:07

I’ve just had a cuppa that was interrupted by a toddler tantrum. Before it happened I was daydreaming about how lovely it would be to be child free this morning and watch some Netflix cosied up on the sofa. I miss those days 🙁

Pheebs2021 · 11/12/2021 10:29

Bump and I are resting under a blanket currently dreaming of next Christmas, might wrap some gifts up later or just go buy gift bags and write on some cards.
Not too sure for dinner yet, think my DH deserves a treat dinner so he will choose :-)

HelloCanYouHearMe · 11/12/2021 10:33

Ive just chanced my luck at a local pharmacy to see if I could get my covid booster - and I could!!!

Now at my parents having a cuppa before heading home for housework, general pottering about and possibly a film, curled up on the sofa with DP

Plantsandpuddlesuits · 11/12/2021 10:45

Love these threads @lucysmam good luck with the job application I remember you saying about that last week. Do you currently have a job or are you a SAHM?

Weve had a relaxing morning so far ive just put the first load of uniform on to wash (it takes 3 loads!) And have just run myself a bath so going to enjoy that. Children are entertaining themselves on a variety of phone / book / Lego / playDough depending on ages 🤣

Walking into the village this afternoon to meet extended family in a cafe for tea and cake then a walk round the village looking at the Christmas lights.

I had planned meatballs for tonight but forgot to lift mince out freezer last night so will call into butcher's this afternoon to either get more fresh mince or more likely something quick like burgers for tea. Decisions decisions 🤣

DH out tonight works Christmas party so I get the TV to myself!

DinosApple · 11/12/2021 10:46

Finishing cards ready to hit the PO at peak posting time no doubt 🙈.
Wreath making this afternoon, plus decorating the tree.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 11/12/2021 10:50

Laundry.
Stripping the rest of the wallpaper in the toilet room.
Out for afternoon tea with my dds, sister and niece.
Back to strip and sand then paint wood in the toilet.

And tomorrow will entail taking dd2 to work at 8. Then wallpapering.

lucysmam · 11/12/2021 10:53

@Plantsandpuddlesuits I do have a job, as a lunchtime supervisor, in the same school as this application's for. Our HT emailed & approached me to make sure I knew it was being advertised so I have everything crossed for success!

Wreath making sounds fun @DinosApple! Will you come back and show us?

Not sure really as I think plans will go out of the window. My DP came in at 8:30am from work and went to bed. He doesn't usually sleep after a night shift if he's not working the next night, but it must have been a bad shift. Our DD slept in but is now jumping around the bed all over her dad Grin.
I'm doing laundry at tho mo but really fancy a day out shopping. We rarely get weekends off together so we should probably do some DIY and cleaning. The dining room has never been habitable since moving in and I need it cleared and cleaned ready for Xmas.
I'm 7mths pregnant though and cleaning knackers me as I get so out of breath.

vampirethriller · 11/12/2021 10:57

Finishing some knitted slippers which are to be a Christmas present. Just made a chicken pie. Then this afternoon we're going to our allotment and I'm building a fence, or trying to...

DinosApple · 11/12/2021 11:01

Haha, depends what it looks like!

It'll be my first time making one, I'll give it a go though. I'm taking some holly and hydrangea heads, and whatever else I can glean from the garden, as the bits I ordered to take haven't arrived.

Ooo sounds promising @lucysmam I'd love to be a teaching assistant in the future, currently a SAHM for 15 years 😱

DinosApple · 11/12/2021 11:07

@lucysmam good luck with the TA job, that's what I do and I do absolutely love it.
The money is rubbish (I'm a MDSA too), but I love working with children. A 4 yo told said I love you like jelly tots yesterday Grin.

Heruka · 11/12/2021 11:15

Love these threads too. Faux Xmas day today with my side of family, but currently waiting in pharmacy for some antibiotics for DD and then home to continue the mad prep before everyone arrives. I’m hungry!

Crunchymum · 11/12/2021 11:25

2 different parties today (DC1 is at one and myself and my two younger DC will be at another)

We're in Central London and I'm feeling a bit nervous now. We're apparently at the epicentre of the new variant. I can't have another repeat of last year though where we didn't see anyone over the festive period or do anything!!

I'm double jabbed (booster on Monday) and the kids are all mixing at school anyway.

Camomila · 11/12/2021 11:30

Good luck @lucysmam !

DH and DS1 are having a fun boy's day out going on the i360 (DS1 got a free ticket from school), getting McDonalds, and doing secret santa shopping.

I am having a lazy day with DS2 (currently watching the very hungry Caterpillar) but will do some tidying when he has his after lunch nap.

ShadowsInTheDarkness · 11/12/2021 12:13

Love these threads so much! We are just off out to check on the goats and give them some treats and then we will head over to some lakes to walk the dog. Back home for late lunch and then we are putting the tree up and watching the snowman and the snow dog. Not sure what tea will be, possibly curry.
Back out to check on the animals before bed and then nice quiet cosy evening in front of the log burner for me and DH.

MrsDThomas · 11/12/2021 13:17

Just been into town with DD who arrived home from college. Bought crackers, new lipstick and santa shortbread. Went to the garden centre and bought a lovely wooden little Christmas tree in the sale.

Afternoon of cleaning for me then out for a meal and a concert tonight.

RosieLemonade · 11/12/2021 13:36

We had breakfast with Santa this morning before swimming lesson for DD. Now doing reading and card writing before she goes to my sisters for a sleepover. I'm going to make my sister curl my hair as I'm out tonight with lots of DHs family. I am designated driver as I'm 7 months pregnant.

WakeUpLockie · 11/12/2021 13:38

PCR for little one 8am
Swimming for eldest
Dropped DH at hockey tournament
Kids playing
Eldest off to a party later
Then picking up DH
Then strictly and The Wheel! The dream!

BabyBunnyMama · 11/12/2021 13:40

Had DDs ballet class first thing then took her to soft play afterwards. We've been cooped up with colds for the last week so she needed a good runaround. Home now and she's napping so I'm having a bit of lunch before doing a few jobs around the house...which includes flea bombing some rooms as our cats have fleas which is the last thing I need at 37 weeks pregnant 😭 would like to get my hospital bags packed too but keep putting it off and between Christmas activities and these bloody fleas can't find the time!

Hope everyone else's weekend is going well 😊

loadofcrap10 · 11/12/2021 13:44

DP decided to renew all the electric sockets and light switches downstairs following recent building work and decorator so I am sat in a cold house with no hot water, dying to get on and clean but there is furniture everywhere, the place is a tip and don't know where to start. What a wasted day so far

Eggsley · 11/12/2021 14:51

Love these threads Grin

I had a 7am zoom call to join my cousin's daughter's christening in Australia, which was lovely. There were 18 separate family members/friends dialling in from all over the world and it was amazing to all be connected for an hour or so and to see everyone.

DH and I went to do some Christmas shopping this morning then to my parents to collect the DC. Quick cup of coffee and then home. DS2 is playing upstairs, DH and DS2 are watching The Warriors. Need to go out to Tesco shortly to get some food - having snacks for dinner and watching a Christmas film later. Just about to take the dog out for a walk before it gets dark.

grooveonthemove · 11/12/2021 15:53

Eek good luck @lucysmam Xmas Smile

I've been to work this morning then had a long sesh at the gym 💪 I'm hosting a Christmas dinner tomorrow for my friends so should be sorting the house out - instead I've sat on my balcony watching the sunset with a large brandy Xmas Grin I'm now 'incapussitated' 😾 and literally can't move, good job I've got a strong bladder!
