Help regarding Argos order🤦🏼‍♀️

I placed an order today, was rushing and only realized now I’ve put the delivery address as my old address.. my mistake I know. Online it sais aslongs it hasn’t been dispatched (which it hasn’t as it’s not due to
come until Wednesday) the delivery address can be amended. I’ve just spoken to someone on a live chat message thing, and she’s saying once the order is placed the address can’t be changed. I tell her the website states if it hasn’t left the warehouse, which again it hasn’t, it sais it can be amended. She just said the same once the order has been placed it cannot be changed, didn’t offer an alternative or what I could do to get my order to the correct address!!
So after that very long rant, has anyone successfully amended their Argos delivery address and can help me pleaseBlush

@Kebabandchipsplease will the money go straight back into my account? It sais refunds take up to 7 days, it was an expensive item so don’t have the amount in my bank to cover re-ordering it until the refund goes in iyswim?

Sorry and to add it’s an Xmas gift so panicking about it not arrive in time if I have to wait for the refund

I had the same issue today at around 4pm. I cancelled then reordered and was very surprised to see the refund in my account immediately!
Good luck

TheChristmasElephant · 10/12/2021 19:33

@MidnightJen ah crap so there really is no other way😩🤣 guess I’ll have to try my luck (which may I add I’m the unluckiest person in the entire world🤣 like I’ve probably binned a winning euromillions ticket before now🤣)
I think I’m about to ruin Christmas🙈🤣

@MidnightJen I’m really sorry, how I’ve got this far in life I don’t know. How do you cancel the order? There is nothing when I log in to cancel it🙃

I did exactly the same thing recently (though I did update the address whilst ordering but clearly didn’t save it - doh!). I called customer services and they cancelled it and I reordered. The refund was almost instant and in fact was back in before the second amount came out!
It was a small amount though.
I was really impressed to be fair.

Cooperjay · 11/12/2021 09:23

Could you knock on the old address and explain/ apologize and ask if they could text you to collect when it arrives?

TheChristmasElephant · 12/12/2021 12:44

@Cooperjay funnily enough its my mums address! She moved in after we moved house, but she's a thousand miles away visiting family. And i do have the keys to her house but it would mean lugging all (5) kids to hers (not in school as high number of covid cases) and her front door is in the living room and this is supposed to be a present off santa so child will see it! Nothing is ever straight forward for me haha! But i'm hoping once i get the dispatch/delivery email i may be able to relocate the delivery to my address as some places do this!

There's probably a cut-off point when you can't cancel. Would a neighbour not take the parcel. Are you in touch with anybody nearby. I don't think you can blame Argos.

TheChristmasElephant · 12/12/2021 13:17

@Viviennemary mums house is a detached house in the middle of a field more or less, we live rurally and she has no neighbours for miles. I promise im not making this up Blush
I'm not blaming Argos at all, i stated in my op it was my mistake, was just confused that someone was telling me she couldn't change the address when the website stated it could be done aslongs it hadn't already left the warehouse which it hadn't. I'm going to take my chances to redivert the delivery man to my address, if that isn't possible i'll go to my mums house and get the kids doing an activity in the kitchen i think Smile

Whitefire · 12/12/2021 13:19

I did this too. I cancelled and re-ordered.

MyOtherProfile · 12/12/2021 13:25

I'd try the chat again and hope for a more sympathetic person.

TheChristmasElephant · 12/12/2021 13:28

@MyOtherProfile I am SO glad someone has picked up on the awful customer service i recieved!! she was so blunt and unhelpful! Didn't even suggest 'you should cancel your order and redo'. I said to DH this is obviously someone who has much better places they would rather be but has been forced to do the friday night shift Grin

EvilRingahBitch · 12/12/2021 13:35

Leave the order to come to mum's house, leave kids in car while you dash in, collect order and then put it in boot, then take DC in while you make tea/water plants etc

MyOtherProfile · 12/12/2021 13:39

Exactly op. In fact I would now get on Twitter and tweet Argos to ask what they suggest. And flag up there what happened. I've had some really good customer service as a result of going on twitter.

CorrBlimeyGG · 12/12/2021 13:42

Didn't even suggest 'you should cancel your order and redo'.

You need someone to suggest that to you?

TheChristmasElephant · 12/12/2021 13:54

@CorrBlimeyGG Well obviously not, but its the fact i'd gone on the live chat to see if my delivery address could be amended like it states on their website, i got a very short 'no once the order is placed the address cannot be changed' to which i replied that the website states otherwise. It would of been good customer service to then offer options/solutions to resolve this matter. Instead i got 'Nope, like i said once the order is placed it cannot be changed' at which point i closed the chat!

TheChristmasElephant · 12/12/2021 13:57

@CorrBlimeyGG by any chance do you work for argos live chat on fridays? Wink Grin

sorryforswearing · 12/12/2021 14:05

Why don’t you try ringing the Amazon freephone number. I think you might get a more helpful response than on the live chat. It’s worth a try.

sorryforswearing · 12/12/2021 14:07

Sorry. Thought you said Amazon. I’m having a bad day today😂

TheChristmasElephant · 12/12/2021 14:09

@sorryforswearing haha i dont think they'd be much help Grin would probably get better customer service though!
