In a house, with rational adults, no small children.... Where would you hide?

It's been a week. I'm running out if ideas🤣

In the fridge? That's where I suddenly realised ours was one day - it's what comes of multi tasking and not concentrating!

One never reappeared in my family home, about 20 years ago. It remains a source of speculation at family gatherings, and at one point my baby brother, who was backpacking around Europe, acquired a remote on his travels and used to send postcards from and photos of it on its holidays outside the Colosseum and the Bundestag etc.

(We conclude it must have somehow fallen into a bin or been thrown in mistakenly with some rubbish, and been taken to the dump, but it’s the Marie Celeste of our family.)

You can buy replacements on Amazon. As soon as you place the order the old one will reappear.

Dressing gown or a coat pocket? Under the cat? Top of the fridge? Wrapped up in a throw or blanket? I usually find I've been sitting on mine!

Any chance you went in your garden to do something and it’s outside?

We lost a shoe this week, it was one of DH work shoes. Took 20 minutes to find, turned out the robotic hoover had dragged it under the dining room table.

It's probably with my bottle of honey that I used in my yogurt last night, now it's nowhere to be found

If it is a sky remote you can press the Q button on the front of the box and the remote will beep so you can find it

Mine gets lost on the patterned rug in front of the sofa. Or if I've carried it to the kitchen I somehow just cannot see it when it is sitting on the worktop.

Check cupboards in case you've taken out a jar of coffee and put the remote in its place. Or have you put it on a random window sill on the route from the living room to the lavatory. Or put it on the chest of drawers in your bedroom and then knocked it into an open drawer.
Not that I've ever done any of those things.

Ironing basket, laundry basket, if you're like me and you have a pile of magazines on the table, could it have been scooped up into the recycling bin?

Deep within a lesser travelled crevice in the base of the sofa lying undetected for 9 months...

We got fed up after 6 weeks of not being able to watch The Handmaid's Tale with subtitles and upgraded the aging TV.

Still nice to find the remote again!

Years ago DH took the set top box remote to work instead of his phone which rendered the TV useless.

Take all seat and back cushions off the sofa and also check down the sides and back.

Under a rug, the sofa, random item of furniture? Dog basket? Amongst a pile of newspapers or magazines? Bathroom window sill?

That's where we usually look.

I found mine in the biscuit box once... it was a hard day

My mums is quite often found in the bottom of her handbag instead of her phone

Did you bring out Christmas decorations and maybe put some stuff you weren't using back into the box, bundling up the remote with it?

Our burrowed down the side of the sofa and somehow managed to slot itself down into the actual sofa base, had to take the damn thing apart to rescue it.

I found mine in the washing machine...

I hate my remote for this reason
