Have you ever had a call from the RSPCA?

Had a missed call from the RSPCA
this evening at 11pm - definitely their number but no voicemail.

I have a missing cat I've been searching for but haven't posted my number anywhere, desperately hoping they've got him but don't want to get my hopes up.

Is it likely they have him with a missed call no voicemail at 11pm?!?

Is your number attached to his microchip? And is it the number for your local branch?

Medievalist · 10/12/2021 00:04

Is your cat chipped? If so that's how they will have got your contact details.

ButteredOwl · 10/12/2021 00:18

They'll get your number from the chip. Could be a cold call for a monthly direct debit payment from you but 11pm seems just a tad late for that

prettyprinceofpartiez · 10/12/2021 00:29

Yes my number is on his chip! And don't have a direct debit with them. So so hoping it's good news, I miss him so much and have been searching everywhere for him

It was the general RSPCA number, not a branch 0300 123 4999

Crossing fingers for you! Our family cat was found 5 years later when the person who had decided to 'look after' her eventually took her to the vet. Where she was scanned.

prettyprinceofpartiez · 10/12/2021 08:49

Well very strange, rang this morning and she couldn't find anything logged under my name and address. No idea why else they would have rang from the official RSPCA number, nor how they would have mine!

We're also extremely concerned to hear that some fraud callers are mirroring our emergency hotline number (0300 1234 999) to make outgoing calls claiming to be calling from the RSPCA; while this number should be dialled by members of the public trying to report animal cruelty, outgoing calls made by our control centre will never display as this number. If you receive a call from this number we would urge you not to divulge any personal information, to hang up and to report this to police

I’ve just c&p this from the rspca website op. Seems like it could be fraudulent!

Thank you - absolutely gutted about that. Some people have just no morals.

Yes they are absolute scumbags!

Even worse when you are genuinely missing your cat, I do hope you find him soon 💐

Jesus - how low will people go ☹️
