Do Loose Woman get their conversation topics from

Mumsnet?

Over the last couple of weeks I've caught bits of Loose Women and a lot of their debates seems to come up at the same time as popular Mumsnet threads.

Today its about men telling women they've let themselves go after a baby.
I can't remember what last weeks topic was where it made me think the same thing.

Has anyone else noticed this?

I don't watch because it's shit. But I'd assume they do, same like the daily fail come here for articles instead of thinking up stuff themselves.

ABCeasyasdohrayme · 09/12/2021 13:14

I don't watch it either but lots of media people are on here looking for stories, so it wouldn't surprise me.

vodkaredbullgirl · 09/12/2021 13:15

Yes, also the Daily Fail pick up on MN.

They will have a team of researchers (look at the credits) who’s job is to look at a range of current and topical subjects, and pick a selection

They will almost certainly look at a wide range of sources - Twitter, the news, here, Reddit etc - as well as their own knowledge of their viewers and viewing figures when certain topics are discussed

They will also map certain topics being discussed on the show against how many press mentions there are of the show afterwards, and the same with guests

They are meant to be talking about things that matter to women today so it seems as good a source as anyGrin

madisonbridges · 09/12/2021 14:17

How is Loose Women still going? I don't understand why anyone is even slightly interested in the opinion of any of them.

I know. It just reinforces a stereotype of middle aged women being gossipy besoms
SirensofTitan · 09/12/2021 14:22

I don't watch it but I'm sure they do sometimes or similar type subjects tend to circulate round all types of media, who can say where they start.

hotfroth · 09/12/2021 14:22

Things often get talked about on here because they are already in the media somewhere, so it's not surprising they get talked about on LW as well.

My OP was typos galore so it might not have been clear - I'm talking more about them getting ideas from threads where the OP is having a specific issue, as opposed to it being generic news stories etc
