So the news of the world have agreed a “substantial “ settlement with sienna over phone hacking to avoid a trial. The paper is still denying any liability. Hundreds of thousands? Less? More?

I feel so sorry for the people who had this happen to them and hope the amount is big enough to put journalists off doing this in the future.

I hope so, that would be a good outcome for her. Sounds like they found out she was pregnant and leaked details which must have been awful for her.

I hope a hell of a lot. As she only has one child from later, I'm assuming she have a miscarriage or termination so it must have been truly awful for her having the pregnancy leaked.

Good for her for pursuing it. So invasive.

Yes, I truly hope those days are over. Disgusting how the sewer press treated various people in the public eye. They may have been public figures but they were also private individuals, entitled to privacy, same as anyone else.

I hope she got several million and good on her for making a statement. I can’t imagine everyone being able to read about something so personal. And it must have been so awful thinking your friends and family had leaked the information and feeling like you couldn’t trust them. Horrible paper.

Difficult to know. If you do a google search there are a variety of awards that have been made public, some £100,000s, lots of £10,000s and one over £1m. The award relates to the number of intrusions. Interesting that Sienna appeared outside the court herself, with her barrister standing quietly behind, while she read her statement. She said she wanted to go to court to expose the poor conduct and culture, but I presume the amount of damages she was claiming was agreed by the NotW so there was no trial. An example of a 'celebrity'/person in the media spotlight who came across as down to earth, honest and genuine about her concerns and cause.

No idea on the figure but I heard something recently that really shocked me. I don't follow him or any celebrities so can't remember why I was reading about it, possibly to see how her son's were doing now...

But I googled Jade Goody's sons and their father and he basically said that his and Jade's relationship was very fractious because they kept reading stories about themselves in the newspapers and it drove a massive wedge between them because they didn't know who was leaking them or who they could trust.

And it turned out they were victims of phone hacking. I knew about all the really despicable stuff like Milly Dowler but I hadn't really heard about the impact on people like that just going about their business trying to raise a young family and reading about their personal lives in the paper. Just awful.

I hope Sienna Miller got a humungous payout.

Oh ignore me, poor woman's been through this twice and that was the amount of her first settlement.
