Gift for our cleaner

Our cleaner is amazing - she comes three times a week and often brings us plant cuttings/cut flowers as she's a very keen gardener.

This will be our first Christmas 'together' and I wanted to make sure she knows we really appreciate her (I hope she already knows but YKWIM). We are planning to give her a card and an extra week's wages. I was also thinking of giving her a bottle of champagne. But should I also get her a gift? I was thinking of a voucher for a local beauty salon.

Any thoughts? Gift or no gift? If the former, what kind of gift would you give? Thank you.

A weeks wages and a bottle of champagne is very generous already, but if you do get her a gift I would get her a present, something gardening related maybe, rather than a voucher.

I think the money and champagne is enough.
Any more and I'd feel embarrassed.
It's a little OTT

Prettyplac3 · 09/12/2021 11:09

I've been a cleaner, and quite honestly I'd be delighted with the extra week's wages Smile

ChickenGotLegs · 09/12/2021 11:13

Voucher for a garden centre maybe?

RedSquirrelsAreAwesome · 09/12/2021 11:16

How lovely, so nice you appreciate her so much.
In addition to the very generous extra wages and gift, a garden centre voucher or some gardening related bits and pieces?

itwasntaparty · 09/12/2021 11:34

If you want to spend more I'd give more cash.

cataline · 09/12/2021 11:36

We give our fabulous cleaner a week's wages and a gift of a lovely candle.

InTheNameOfAllThatIsHonest · 09/12/2021 11:45

Thank you, everyone. I may go with something small then, like a candle. Thanks again.

I got my allotment obsessed uncle some secateurs engraved with his name which could be a nice gift for her.

Santahatesbraisedcabbage · 09/12/2021 11:49

Cleaner here.. Well received gifts over these past 8 years include :
(any gifts gratefully received tbh!)
Laura Ashley mug and tray set.
Laura Ashley egg holding chicken (chicken lover).
Posh bubbly hat.
Posh wooly scarf.
Posh smelles.
Hotel Chocolat.
River Island purse.
Gold snow globe.
Usually get paid for over Christmas but day depending don't always go!

AndSoFinally · 09/12/2021 12:00

I've always given a week's wages and a bottle. The secateurs sound like a good gift for your cleaner

Crankley · 09/12/2021 13:14

I usually give my cleaner £50 for Christmas. I know she appreciates and needs cash more than presents.

5thnonblonde · 09/12/2021 13:25

I gave ours £50 and a little hamper with some homemade jam and panettone. I acknowledged that having cleaned our mess she might not fancy eating our food but I know she has teenage boys and she laughed!

Planesmistakenforstars · 09/12/2021 14:59

Not a cleaner, but used to be a gardener. A week's pay, a bottle of wine and a box of chocolates is what I was given each year by my most generous (and favourite) client.

Thank you everyone. I have bought her a flower-smelling handmade candle. That way there is a reference to her passion and it's not too big a gift.
