How the actual fuck do I remove this from dd2's school shirt???

I think it's highlighter, judging by the colour.

We have had very very stern words about pens in blazer pockets since I spotted it.

Any idea how to get it out? If it doesn't come out, she'll have to make do with the shirts she does have for the mo 🤷‍♀️

Google says use hand sanitizer to get it out.

lucysmam · 09/12/2021 09:53

I remember trying sanitiser for something else before & not being impressed with the results. Worth a shot I guess, I'll find my little one out of my bag

Hairspray very liberally before you wash it, if there's still some left soak in a bowl of water with about 3 Milton tablets in over night.

If all else fails, I'd use bleach.

MagpiePi · 09/12/2021 09:58

get a proper stain remover for pen. De-solv-it is good.

GertrudeKerfuffle · 09/12/2021 10:01

I've managed to get pen out with nail varnish remover after hand sanitiser failed. I think it's got to be the sort of nasty stuff that has acetone in though.

I wouldn’t bother! And just use as a cleaning rag

Gargellen · 09/12/2021 10:06

Brasso. Gets anything off anything.

ThePontiacBandit · 09/12/2021 10:07

I got ink on white tunics. I tried a variety of techniques including soaking in milk overnight and then washing it in the washing machine with a dishwasher tablet which brought them up so clean you’d never know it was inky!

Poppins2016 · 09/12/2021 10:09

Soak in Vanish for whites overnight, then wash in the machine on a long wash with a scoop of Vanish. If it was summer I'd suggest you dry outside in the sunshine, which is great for natural bleaching/whitening.

And what will her DD go to school wearing?
NoMoreTractors · 09/12/2021 10:12

Try soaking in the Tesco stain remover in the pink bottle for a day.

furbabymama87 · 09/12/2021 10:15

Buy another shirt.

ImJustMum · 09/12/2021 10:25

Elbow grease spray! Works bloody wonders that stuff

SoupDragon · 09/12/2021 10:28

Do you have any idea how expensive the DD's school shirts are and how much money the OP has to spare?
hellsbells99 · 09/12/2021 10:56

Bleach spray

Angel2702 · 09/12/2021 11:09

Definitely hair spray works most of the time on ink. Might take several goes but do it before using other products and setting the stain in.

Fuuuuuckit · 09/12/2021 11:10

Meh. Let her wear it to school even if it stains. Natural consequences, lesson learned.

GiltEdges · 09/12/2021 11:10

White shirts are cheap, I really wouldn't bother.

Not her fault tho if her pen leaked?
TheTurn0fTheScrew · 09/12/2021 11:26

with a stain that bad you've nothing to lose with bleach. I got red food colouring out of a white top with bleach - just make sure the whole shirt is soaked evenly, not just the stain.

lucysmam · 09/12/2021 14:46

Right, I've got sanitiser and hair spray to hand so will try those first, when I've finished with todays actual washing I had planned.

She's not wearing a shirt that badly stained to school - she'll have to make do with what she has if it doesn't come out.

& I'm not just buying more either. White shirts may be cheap but I'm (unfortunately) not in posession of a money tree & especially not at this time of year 🤷‍♀️

If it was a blazer pocket leak, does the stain even show when she is wearing her blazer snd school jumper?

Skyll · 09/12/2021 15:01

Soak in vanish gold or ace bleach over night and wash long and hot with mega dose of Ariel.

Good luck.

With the hairspray spray it on then dab at it with an absorbent cloth repeatedly. Don’t rub it.
