Heel balm from any pharmacy eg flexitol or scholl - softens the skin which makes the cracks less painful. Once existing cracks have grown out (the tough outer layers of skin are dead cells so won't ever heal but will eventually wear away) then you can (if you wish) cut back on the heel balm and let the skin dry out again but keep it under control with regular filing - personally I dislike the slimy feel of the balm and prefer to regularly grate off a few mm of thickened skin before it gets to the point of starting to crack.

Another vote for flexitol

WeAreTheHeroes · 09/12/2021 05:39

Flexitol. Once you've got rid of the worst cracks use a glass pumice stone to remove the worst of the dry skin where you're in the bath.

DillDanding · 09/12/2021 05:41

Flexitol. Use it daily.

FOJN · 09/12/2021 06:21

A foot file to remove dry skin. I use something like this on dry skin, be gentle. Flexitol (I used a mixture of the heel balm and foot cream) is the best foot cream I've ever used. Apply it after a bath before bed and put some cotton socks on.

Yes, Flexitol is really good and also a foot file, scrub and cream from the Margaret Dabbs range for maintenance. Pricey bur i got it for my birthday last year Smile when my feet were so cracked, it hurt every time i took a step. Took about three days to get much better. You have reminded me to start using it again!

I used to be a flexitol fan. Now I prefer scholl dry heel. Plus cheaper
BUT I barely use either now because I use bath oil daily. Honestly I had the worst feet in the world

Fashio · 09/12/2021 06:32

And I used to use the grater that looks like a cheese slicer. All the rest crap.

Now nothing.

farnworth · 09/12/2021 06:37

Vaseline works brilliantly, better than any foot cream I have ever used.
Smother heels in it each morning before putting on socks/tights.
When heels are very cracked and also painful, then reapply again at night and put on socks to wear whilst sleeping.

Make sure you are drinking enough water. flexitol or any cream with urea in after filing feet with foor file

ColdShouldersWarmTummy · 09/12/2021 06:42

Boots heel balm with 25% urea.

Apply after showering in the morning, then in the evening soak feet, rub with pumice, and apply again

Tanfastic · 09/12/2021 06:54

I used to use all the creams Flexitol etc but found I had to keep using it all the time and could never keep on top of it.

Now I use one of those blade things and slice it off. It's so satisfying Grin and amazing! For upkeep in between I use a foot file. I personally think this beats any cream.

Rainartist · 09/12/2021 09:09

Can someone show me what you mean by the blade. I struggle nowadays with my heels and the creams just seem to smooth the horrid skin rather than soften it completely. My tights and socks are ruined regularly!

Ariela · 09/12/2021 09:14

I'm currently using thisI apply at night, and wear socks in bed, so it soaks in well. Working very well.

TabbyM · 09/12/2021 11:17

Superdrug cracked heel cream - cheap and effective

Liverbird77 · 09/12/2021 12:25

Podiatrists use a blade.
I have cream, done foot peels and tried filing myself. The only thing that really works for me is a good old podiatry session!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/12/2021 12:31

Eucerin - the sort with 10% urea in it. Apply it twice a day.

I can't remember what they are called but I got mine from Superdrug. It was only a few quid. It's like a potato peeler for your feet 😆. If you look on Superdrug website it is in the foot section.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 09/12/2021 12:46

I use boots foot cream in a little jar.

Rainartist · 09/12/2021 14:24

Ta @Tanfastic

normanthegonk · 09/12/2021 14:35

@teaandtoastwithmarmite. do you mean the green stuff in a glass jar.....I went online and it was out of stock and they are not getting any more. .I was horrified!
