Hi, unapologetically posting for traffic. Have also posted in skiing section.

We are due to fly home from Geneva on 26th Dec so need a pre departure PCR 48hrs before flight as per Swiss rules. Struggling to find anywhere open in Morzine on Xmas eve/Xmas day. Any help & advice would be appreciated.

LFTs are acceptable (as long as they aren't the free NHS ones)

You could order them in the UK now and take them with you.

You can verify the results on-line and get an email confirming the result.

I believe they need a PCR to enter Switzerland from France.

OP have you tried emailing the tourist office in Morzine? They may be able to point you to a test centre. There must be places as people who aren’t vaccinated need daily tests to use the lifts.

Thank you @Liebelei, you are right. We definitely need a PCR. Lateral flows are not accepted by the Swiss.
My husband has rung the medical centre in Morzine today and was told they’ll be closed. No pharmacies doing PCR’s either, just lateral flows.

@ILOVEALLCAKES it might be worth asking on Snowheads as there is bound to be somebody who knows Morzine specifically.

Blackdog12 · 08/12/2021 20:08

I believe border regions of France are excluded from the PCR requirement so you don’t need one to fly home but do check this

ILOVEALLCAKES · 08/12/2021 20:12

Thanks @Blackdog12 - that’s where the confusion comes in. My DH spoke to someone at the Swiss Federation of Public Health today and she said we require a PCR.

Thanks for the clarification everyone. Didn't mean to be misleading.

Liebelei · 09/12/2021 08:02

@ILOVEALLCAKES Blackdog is right - sorry, I’d forgotten that detail! See point 2 here (in French sorry) for confirmation

www.ge.ch/covid-19-voyageurs-entree-suisse

for confirmation. I’m not surprised the FOPH said otherwise as they often seem to contradict the cantonal health authorities (am Swiss). For extra reassurance you could get in touch with the public health department for Geneva?

You might have to go down the mountain to Cluses, or to a clinic in a different resort but there will be somewhere open, because they aren’t going to have a very successful transfer day if no one is allowed to leave the country..!

ILOVEALLCAKES · 09/12/2021 12:54

@SW1amp - I agree! We can’t possibly be the only people leaving France via Geneva on Boxing Day!

Have you booked through a company?
Give them a call and ask what the plan is?

The Crystals/Mark Warner/neilson companies are going to have a plan on how they get people in and out within thr testing regimes
