Why the chuff?

Why can’t some people just close a door? British Gas engineer is here at the moment, he’s been in and out of the front door to his van at least a dozen times. EVERY time he’s slammed it! Each time it makes our dogs bark, makes me jump, I’m in the living room wrapping Christmas presents, and the bloody window shakes. It closes perfectly easily, just use the chuffing handle!

It could be worse, he could keep leaving it open. But, yes, I agree it's very annoying & not difficult to close a door gently.

I have been known to close and lock doors when people have left them open Grin

Tell him to stop.

He’s in YOUR home. He needs to be respectful.

Maybe it’s a slightly dodgy door that needs to be slammed to close properly.
Maybe he has dyspraxia and can’t control how hard he’s closing it (guilty).

Door is a perfectly good upvc one, absolutely no need to slam it, closes just fine.
I’ve ended up having to say something, he looked blank and said he didn’t realise, quite how he couldn’t tell when the door knocker was banging, it was echoing round the hall and the dogs were barking, is beyond me, he certainly isn’t hard of hearing Confused

Oh I thought you meant he was slamming his van door. It’s pretty easy to accidentally slam a door you’re not used to!
