Hello, I'm a bit worried and cannot much information online...

DD has chickenpox rash as of Friday evening.. (it's been going round preschool) she has been okay until today. She's suddenly very poorly with a high temperature, and both of her eyes are red with so much gunk that she's having difficulty opening her eyes.

To top it off she absolutely refuses to have any calpol.

Has anyone got any experience/advice regarding her eyes? I'm worried that it's serious when caused by the chickenpox virus.

That sounds miserable, the poor little thing. First off, can you use suppositories for pain relief? Second, for the eyes, I'd clean as gently as possible with cooled boiled water. Wipe from nose outwards and a fresh piece of cotton wool for each swipe. Maybe while she's in an oat bath?

Can you call the NHS line for advice?

Not heard of this before. As pp said ring 111. Chicken pox is absolutely miserable. Can you mix her calpol in petit filous or something ?
