I love listening to Luanna: the podcast and Parenting Hell (Rob Beckett & Josh Widdecombe) but I'm currently all caught up and struggling to find others I like.

Does anyone have any recommendations? Preferably funny ones although open to giving anything a try.

Previously loved binging one investigating the disappearance of Maddie McCann.

Interesting stories and very funny at times brilliantly told by Alice Levine and Matt Forde (Matt is very funny on other podcasts too)

I loved The high low, redhanded, shagged married annoyed, root of evil, a bit of a stretch, Dolly Parton's America and American vigilante.

That's quite an eclectic mix but all very good.

cantgetmyheadroundit · 07/12/2021 23:38

You're Dead To Me is fab - a history one with comedians and historians.

Ear Hustle - talking to and about inmates in San Quentin, it's so interesting.

WTF with Marc Maron, also excellent.

My Dad Wrote A Porno is laugh out loud funny.

ChuckMater · 07/12/2021 23:47

Ah I used to love My Dad Wrote a Porno not sure how I forgot about that or Shagged, Married, Annoyed! Im going to resubscribe and get stuck in while I have a look at the other podcasts you've all recommended, thank you.

Off Menu with Ed Gamble and James Acaster is very funny.

I have just started Out to Lunch with Jay Rayner - also entertaining (but you have to tune out the noise of people eating!)

cantgetmyheadroundit · 09/12/2021 18:40

Have just finished a brilliant one called Sweet Bobby, about a woman being catfished. Highly recommended.

Justkeepleft · 09/12/2021 18:50

Do Go on. 3 australian comedians. 1 presents a report the other two derail but lots of fin and a broad range of topics. My go to pick me up.

icelolly12 · 09/12/2021 18:56

Doctor Death is amazing. Not funny. But fascinating.

I was looking forward to listening to this one when it came out but I gave up on it. I found the presentation of the stories really annoying and Mat Forde was irritating AF.

There is a podcast topic on MN so that is worth a look at OP.

My recommendations are

Teachers Pet. ( not available in Australia as it is currently supressed)

The Miami Chronicles - Booby Trap.

I like UK True Crime for a short podcast. I'm sure Adam, the host, fancies himself as Alan Partridge! However he is very respectful towards the victims

I love Swindled. The narrator is very dead pan any you get two stories for each addition. The first is an event that is similar to the main story.

Case file normally gets mentioned. I feel like it has lost some of it's sparkle in the last few months but for a long time it was an excellent podcast.
The drop out is good. It is the story of Elizabeth Holmes at one point the youngest self made female billionaire and how it all went very wrong.

The most fascinating story about a horrible topic is Hunting Warhead An absolutely incredible international operation on hunting a paedophile on the dark web.

Jen435 · 09/12/2021 19:31

Sweet Bobby - about someone being catfished

Chameleon - about a con artist

Welcome to your fantasy - about the dark story behind the Chippendale's

SoupDragon · 09/12/2021 19:31

I've been enjoying Wolf and Owl which is basically Romesh Rangenathan and Tom Davies chatting. It makes me smile as they're obviously good friends and having fun.

I also like Lofe's a Beach by Alan Carr.

Feel better live more

Thatnameistaken · 09/12/2021 21:40

Adam Buxton is great, he has a huge range of well known people on his 'Ramble chats' and he's an affable chap who gets the best out of his guests.

I'm a big fan of true crime... They Walk Among Us is great and UK-centric.
Recently I've been avidly following The Drop-Out (about the Elizabeth Holmes/Theranos trial). Also really enjoying Uncanny on BBC Sounds.

What's upset you now is a funny and bite size one. A bit like Room 101.

Uncanny

All my other favourites have been mentioned already.

Have you had a listen to the other version of " They walk among us" There's now "They walk among America" which has been good so far.

Scroobius Pip's Distraction pieces have been running for some years now and ge has some great guests. Hes interviews people that I thought I wouldn't like but ive been pleasantly surprised!

OneToThree · 09/12/2021 23:06

Another vote for Ear Hustle, it’s great.

Beautiful/Anonymous - comedian Chris Gethard (The Office, Space Force) takes a one hour call from a random stranger. The only rules are it’s anonymous and Chris can’t hang up. Sometimes the calls are mindless chit chat, sometimes they’re heart breaking, but they’re always great. Try starting with ep 138 (House Burnt Down), 121 (Prison Bound) or 187 (Motor City Mayhem, this is a call taken during a live show and does get a bit chaotic so maybe try a few others first)

Mid Point with Gabby Logan

Dead Eyes - actor Connor Ratliff was fired from a tiny role in Band of Brothers by Tom Hanks because Tim thought he had dead eyes, so Connor goes down a massive rabbit hole trying to get to the bottom of it.

Who Shat on the Floor at my Wedding - it’s about exactly what it sounds like.

SamhainToImbolc · 10/12/2021 09:18

I love Comfort Eating with Grace Dent. It's just a chat between her and her guest about food and life in general. It's often funny, moving, and just lovely.
