Terrible things that happened to you when working in hospitality

Inspired by a previous thread.

As a student, I spent a lot of time working in hospitality in various roles - housekeeping, bar, restaurant, FoH etc.

My favourite 'WTF?' stories were always from housekeeping, my personal stand-out being the time that somebody took a massive shite in a wastepaper bin.

There were also a variety of sex toys left in beds, questionable tissues, soiled underwear etc. People are fucking revolting away from home (maybe at home, too, but I suspect most of this happens when other people are cleaning up after them).

Any tales to tell?

I did hotel housekeeping the summer I was 16, and frequently walked in on naked men who had deliberately left their ‘please clean this room’ signs on the door. Or they would call ‘come in’ when I knocked.

I used to work in the cafe in an M&S when I was 16. You wouldn’t believe the amount of poo we’d find smeared on the floors and walls of the toilets. I couldn’t believe how disgusting members of the public could be before I had that job.

Manager just laughed and said that’s why I had a job.
