David Bowie in The Snowman?

I'm having a Mandela Effect moment.

In 36 years I have seen The Snowman multiple times but I have NEVER seen the David Bowie intro.

Obviously it's not a new thing as he's dead but you'd think I'd have seen it before now?!

I have seen it plenty times before...

I did a recent Christmas quiz with friends and was the only one who knew this. It helps I watch it every Christmas but they sometimes cut out Bowie’s introduction when it’s on tv.

I hadn’t seen it until about 10 years ago and I have seen the cartoon hundreds of times! Think they often cut it from the TV showing

I hate the David Bowie bit I skip over it on my dvd I can't stand him!

Weloveoptimus · 07/12/2021 20:31

I was so confused as a young teenager when I received the video of this with his introduction.

I asked my auntie if we had bought the correct video and I loved how he was the boy and he was reminiscing.

I still adore the Snowman and have several pieces of Christmas things of theirs that come out every crimble.

BonnyBoy · 07/12/2021 20:38

The David Bowie bit is not on the original version.

In the original the author introduced it

I've definitely seen it, possibly on a video recording of when it was on TV, not sure when but it is real Xmas Smile

MynameisWa · 07/12/2021 20:42

Yes they always have it at chrimbo. Seen it every time.

My kids think the boy in the snowman is David Bowie Grin

anotherchocolate · 07/12/2021 20:46

He's on the VHS version. Sometimes the TV broadcast it too.

ethelredonagoodday · 07/12/2021 20:48

It was on the version from the early 80s, my mum has it on vhs somewhere! I love it, I think it's what started my DB fandom!

They played the David Bowie version on channel 4 the other afternoon and I watched it today. I love it, it gives me a wobbly bottom lip every bloody time as it reminds me of DM who was killed in a car accident when I was 14, she made Christmas so wonderful and it reminds me of feeling happy and loved.

Never saw it til last year when the kids found it on the extras of the DVD menu.
