How do you feel in the days leading up to your cycle?

Just wondering if others feel similar:

Since starting the pill my mood is better but I still get this horrible severe body ache and brain fog. I can't think in a logical manner. It fees debilitating.

I also get a lot of pain in and around the sacroiliac joint which I think is due to having moderate spd in two pregnancies.

How is it for you?

Horrendous. I eat like a pig for a week. I'm unreasonable, angry, and a massive pain in the arse. I feel awful. Get intermittent cramping. Of course, no doctor takes me seriously and the last one I saw suggested I go on antidepressants. 🤦‍♀️

Spudlet · 07/12/2021 19:47

Stressed and / or murderous. Physically I’m ok, but emotionally I do lose the plot a little. DH can always tell when it’s imminent as
I tend to have the changeover day about a week before my period starts where I am ready to disembowel anyone who crosses me (or breathes too loudly) Blush

Spudlet · 07/12/2021 19:48

Although saying that, if I do have any little niggles they do tend to flare up a bit during that time too.

NuffSaidSam · 07/12/2021 19:49

Suicidal (but able to rationalise out of it). Very short-tempered and easily annoyed. Very tearful.

birdglasspen · 07/12/2021 19:50

I feel depressed with life, can’t see any good even when I realise it’s periods coming then it just goes.

Popsalot · 07/12/2021 19:50

Also intermittent tearful episodes and emotionally very wobbly. DH can also tell whenever I'm due as I'm very short with him/the DC and he tries to keep his head down.

When not on the pill, I’d get bloating and abdominal discomfort just after ovulation, and a really tender tummy, usually in one side or the other. Pain while weeing. Irritable and low mood. That’d last for about 4-5 days, then I’d get 2 or 3 days of feeling normal. Then the week before my period… sore throat, absolutely blinding murderous rage, anxiety, depression.

I’m on the pill now, which has solved the physical symptoms around ovulation, and now I get about 7-9 days of murderous rage, anxiety, grumpiness, misery.

Doctor has prescribed antidepressants to try either continuously or just during the last 14 days of the pill packet. I’m too scared to try them though, especially over Xmas, as I’m scared of the side effects. I need to do something though. It’s just awful.

My finger joints ache!

furbabymama87 · 07/12/2021 20:18

I get angry and over sensitive. I feel like ripping someone's head off a week before. Then as soon as I start to bleed although I have pain, I feel relieved.

stuckinarut21 · 07/12/2021 21:18

I forgot about the ravenous appetite, the feeling emotional at slightest thing, short temper and I also have aching finger joints Sad

And I hear the menopause is no fun

I used to crave chocolate for a day and feel so sad in the week before, it was unbearable.

These days I feel on the very top of my game just before my period, it’s really strange. I think clearly, I’m organised and feel generally on top of the world. Then I have one day of total physical fatigue with joint pain and a period that starts very slowly and lasts longer. Then I’m back to my fuzzy headed, up and down moods again.

Has anyone experienced a complete switcharoo like that?!

I feel my hormones are all over the place at the moment. Gut issues, acne, weight gain etc.

FlamesEmbersAshes · 07/12/2021 21:42

Hungry, irritable and tired.

YeOldeTrout · 07/12/2021 21:44

non event. ~Nothing special.

Tomthumbsbigbum · 07/12/2021 21:46

Depressed and dissatisfied with life, pissed off with everything and everyone, tired, emotional, bloated, headache the day or so before. It's shit.

MsFrog · 07/12/2021 21:48

Since having my second baby my PMS has been awful. I feel very, very low, very irritable, absolutely exhausted. Terrible painful heartburn/indigestion (thought I have a sickness bug the first few times), sickly headaches, cramps on and off for a week or two. Aching muscles and my head is all over the place.

Hohofortherobbers · 07/12/2021 21:53

Irritable, I have an extremely short fuse and dislike people being close to me, even find it hard to tolerate my dc cuddling up to me Sad

WakeUpLockie · 07/12/2021 21:56

An absolute wreck but I do have PMDD. Also get the sacroiliac flare!

Allsorts1 · 07/12/2021 22:13

I feel unhinged. Things seem bleak. I’m very anxious. If I’ve felt a bit neglected or any issues during the month that didn’t bother me enough to say anything, they’ll all come out with DP. When I was younger I would break up with my teen boyfriend every single month 😂 my mother never thought to mention PMS so it took me until I was about 24 to realise.

WLAH · 07/12/2021 22:13

Most of the above.... glad read not only one

Weepingwillows12 · 07/12/2021 22:15

I get really anxious, find it hard to sleep, constipated and irritable. Often I feel like I am getting ill IE my glands are up, headaches, stuffy nose etc. Very annoying. Worse since having kids.

MsFrog · 07/12/2021 22:16

@WakeUpLockie I've never heard of PMDD, I've just googled it. It's exactly how I feel - how did you know you had it? Does anything help?

MynameisJune · 07/12/2021 22:19

I’ve just been diagnosed with PMDD, I’ve started on antidepressants taken only on the two weeks after ovulation. 5 days in and the change this time is already noticeable. Why I didn’t push for this before I don’t know.

Antidepressants or the pill are the first line of treatment for severe PMS/PMDD.

Changemaname1 · 07/12/2021 22:21

Angry mainly 😅

bloodyhoodedeyes · 07/12/2021 22:29

@nomorespaghetti how old are you??

bowlingalleyblues · 07/12/2021 22:38

Typically fine, although think I’m early peri menopausal - have noticed I’m sometimes tearful for 24 hours prior.
