The elves arrived at our house on December 1st and brought a box of christmas activities/stuff to do. This included lots of books and my eldest ds (8),who has found a love of reading this year, was really pleased to find The Christmasaurus by Tom Fletcher in the box. He started reading it straight away and hasnt put it down since. He told me tonight he's worried he won't finish it by Christmas because he thinks the elves will take it back to the north pole on Christmas Eve when they leave.

Before bed he brought me down a scrunched up post it note and asked me to read it. He has written "can you ask the elf if I can keep the book?"

I really want to write a note back from the elves saying yes he can but I want a little rhyme but I am absolutely shit at stuff like this. Would anyone like to offer any suggestions as to what I could put? Just a couple of lines.

I could probably come up with something if I really thought about it but it's been a long day of hospital appointments with younger ds and also baby dd who was refusing to go to sleep tonight. I dont have the brain function for this tonight but dont want to be a crap mum as this will mean alot to ds. He still fully believes in it all. Please help if you have any ideas. Xmas Smile thank you

can't help with poems I'm afraid but in our house FC wrote with very spidery wiggly handwriting
and the tooth fairy used a very fancy font but in the smallest size available, really very very tiny

A child who loves a book as much as you,
Can surely sleep the whole night through,
We'd never take your book away,
So enjoy, relax, have a great day!

Prob not my best work either as similarly awake baby to content with

We've just had a little look and we can see you love your book. (Now we know you like Tom Fletcher we know what other books to getcha....) We see you having so much fun, we think that you should keep this one. If you're done with it next year, we can pass it on to spread the cheer.

I'm sure someone else will have done better by the time I click post lol.

I hear you want to keep my book,
I'm really glad you liked it.
On Christmas morning take a look,
Maybe under the tree you'll find it.

Wow these are great!! Thank you. I love the idea of squiggly writing too.

We want you to keep this story
You can tell us it in all its glory
We will be back again next year
Your story we would love to hear

BrightonOrLancaster · 06/12/2021 22:00

We've had a word with Father C
About your book dilemma.
He likes your style and we agree:
You seem a bright young fella.
Its yours to read and yours to keep
Forever and forever,
Consider it an early treat
...And one we hope you'll treasure.

Fingerbobs · 06/12/2021 22:02

Ok this isn’t quite right but how about

We are the elves
Upon the shelves
We know how you adore us
When we go
We’ll be happy to know
That the book we see before us
Will be read and read
Til it’s time for bed
Have a merry Christmasaurus
Love from the Christmas elves

Concestor · 06/12/2021 22:03

Books are gifts of magic
That take you into a new world
This one's come to you from St Nick
And you've enjoyed the story that's unfurled.
We're so pleased you've loved every moment,
Each page we have seen make you smile
So we want you to to see it as Elf-sent
And keep it to read for a while.
We have just one final request for you
That you promise to share the joy
So please pass it on when it's time to
For another little girl or boy.
