Sequinned skirt

I have never wore sequins or sparkle and even run from most prints and yet now at the age of 57 I have decided that I really need a black sequinned skirt. Stretchy and calf length. I'm just over 5 ft and a size 16 and this is not a match made for a long black sequinned skirt. I can spend up to £30 and would welcome any suggestions on where to buy said skirt or if it's HRT that I need

I was ready to help until you said calf length. They have short ones in M&S.

I will be brutally honest, I am also a size 16 and a mere two inches taller. I know they are in M&S because dd dared me to try one on. I looked like a sparkly brick. HRT may be a better option but you don't know til you try

I once had a sequinned skirt. I bought it from Primark. It was knee length. It was also VERY itchy around my waist. I can't see that Primark would have scaled back on the sequins, so might I suggest there.

Yes, I know it's an awful shop but you're looking for a sequinned skirt. Sometimes you just have to roll up your sleeves and plunder the depths of fast fashion.

I still own a sequinned jacket. I bought it the day I failed my first driving test so it has a few miles on the clock. I get it out every Christmas Eve. The neck is VERY itchy.

It's ok as I live in full body thermals which will not only protect me from the itch it I feel will also compliment the sequins

Go for it!!! Ebay has a few and if it's not for you you haven't spent too much. I've got one from Jigsaw and it looks like there is the same one on ebay. I also like the Phase Eight dress www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Phase-Eight-size-16-Navy-Blue-Geonna-Sequin-Skirt-Batwing-Evening-Party-Dress/363640312994?hash=item54aaa6d4a2:g:s~UAAOSw6j9hpplY&pageci=4f20aa7b-0fb5-4af7-b5d6-c3e63f254caf&redirect=mobile

This solves the problem of what to wear on top?

oatmilkisntsobad · 06/12/2021 23:21

Ok so I'm watching a few on eBay and getting ready to put my bids in. This is exciting 🤣

@oatmilkisntsobad, Will you post a picture if you buy? I'm invested! Solidarity too; 40+ here and sequins were donned at weekend!

Pretty sure I saw almost that in Matalan recently- worth a look online!

oatmilkisntsobad · 15/12/2021 16:50

Thought I'd come back to update you with my tale of woe. Real life shopping and hours of online shopping has not been successful. I am destined to not own a sequinned skirt. Probably for the best...

How about a top instead?

whysorude · 15/12/2021 16:55

Oh no OP.
I am the same size and height as you and have the Phase 8 one linked above. I look fecking fabulous in it, even if I do say so myself. 😏 😁
Keep looking.

Fairyliz · 15/12/2021 16:59

That Phase eight one looks fab, why not put a bid in on it?
I think you will look fabulous as long as you keep any top very simple.

I have! I've opted for a long floaty skirt (dropped waist which is great for disguising the belly!) and a sequinned top. Got the skirt which I love and the top is from M&S and bought through Vinted - should be delivered on Monday

@Fairyliz that phase eight dress did look nice but has sold now. I didn't bid originally as I really wanted black but perhaps I shall have just gone for it
