My labia is growing a head

Name changed for this for obvious reasons… tucked inside my labia, just up and off to the left of my clitoris is what I think must be a cyst?! It’s like a large pea under the surface. WHAT DO I DO?! I can’t get a GP appointment for 2 weeks and although it’s not sore I would like to get rid of it! Help please Blush

  1. Go to sporner corner
  2. Squeeze it
  3. Report back

(Don’t actually do that, but do have a warm bath and see if it might come out naturally or call your GP and get that appt)

Fatgalslim · 06/12/2021 13:04

I had one recently, it grew over the course of a week to marble size and then I just grabbed it in the shower and squeezed. Much relief

SilverHairedCat · 06/12/2021 13:05

Is it a Bartholins Cyst maybe? A hot bath, soak for ages and a light squeeze...?

Look up bartholin cyst - it’s quite common

Sparklingbrook · 06/12/2021 13:06

Bartholins Cyst (have a Google and check). Painful. Sad But hopefully short lived. I had one for Christmas one year, by the time the GP had opened back up it had burst of it's own accord.
Hot baths helped.

Hoppinggreen · 06/12/2021 13:07

If it’s not painful and only pea sized I wouldn’t worry too much
I have had these and popped them in the bath quite easily
If it grows a lot, gets painful or you start to feel unwell then get medical advice

Vulvasecondhead · 06/12/2021 13:11

I’d heard of Bartholins cysts but I thought they were near the vaginal opening? This is just next to my clitoris. I’ll have some hot baths and see what happens. I did have a little spot which popped in a similar location a few weeks back, hopefully this just needs to pop too Blush very glad to hear other people have had these too!

I used to get them all the time - fab to pop
Obviously get an appointment if it doesn’t go in a week

Justilou1 · 06/12/2021 13:15

DON’T PICK IT!!! It may go away on it’s own, or it could become more inflamed. If that’s the case you will need antibiotics. Can you Google”Bartholin Cyst” and see if you think that sounds familiar? If not, it may be an ingrown hair, but more likely a Bartholin Cyst. Nothing you put on it topically will get into the cyst unless it bursts, but you can soothe the area and you can also avoid irritating it further.
I would definitely recommend warm (not hot) sitz baths with salty water or even better, bicarbonate soda. (Better PH for your bits.) I would also recommend keeping a spray bottle or a jug of clean salty/bicarb water next to loo so you don’t have to wipe with paper when you pee. Just spray/pour and drip dry. (Obviously not helpful if you work in an office situation. I would get some water-only baby wipes.) At home, wear a dress/skirt/nightie and as my DH would say, “Freeball/Go Commando.”
If you think that it’s increasing in size, becoming increasingly painful, or more importantly, you have a temperature or feel ill, you need to see a doctor. If it bursts, don’t panic, just clean it as I have said and keep it dry. You can also apply iodine until it has entirely crusted over (wear old black undies and dark trousers as it stains.)

Zestlemondosoap · 06/12/2021 13:16

I had something similar a few months ago, it’s did grow and become painful, and found sitting, walking painful. I thought it might be a bartholin cyst and was given antibiotics after a phone appointment. I found that sitting in warm Epsom baths helped . It eventually shrank and disappeared on its own

Blossom64265 · 06/12/2021 13:21

It can just be a regular pimple type cyst. Hot baths or warm compresses are a good approach. You don’t risk any damage. may likely bring it to a head, and it will numb the pain.

Vulvasecondhead · 06/12/2021 20:01

Omg it just burst in the shower Blush so gross but so satisfying! I can still feel something that feels a bit like a sac though, hoping this will disappear and not refil! Thanks Mumsnet!

I had one. I stabbed it with nail scissors, popped it and put Sudocreme on it. And have lived to tell this foul tale online.

I have this occasionally. Got baths and keep cleaning them out. They go away.
