TTC after miscarriage

Hi guys

I posted on here about having a blighted ovum recently and found it so helpful in trying to get through such an awful time.

After 3 weeks I finally naturally miscarried last week, 2 days before I was booked in for medical management. I am still getting positive pregnancy tests but understand it can take up to 3 weeks to get back to a negative. I stopped bleeding 3 days ago so I think that has all stopped now.

My question is, we do feel ready to start ttc again but the nurse told me we should wait until I’ve had one period until we start trying. Is there any reason for this? I know some say it’s because of dating but they don’t seem to be able to accurately date anyway. Is this the only reason or is it because of a reason which could potentially harm a baby that is conceived before a period? Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what you ended up doing? Obviously we would wait until we have a definite negative test before we start trying again.

Thank you x

Generally I think it is so it's easier to date the pregnancy. And potentially just healing physically and mentally. But I don't think it's an exact science.

For reference, I lost DS2 at 21+4 and was told to wait at least a month for the 5mg folic acid to have kicked in. MMC where I had medical management at 9/10 weeks after a 6 week loss, and was told to give it a month before trying again so they could make sure all products of conception had been expelled.
Dd1 lost at 15+1 and just told to wait till I'd stopped bleeding and to make sure I had a negative pregnancy test and if I had a high temp or any pain to phone.
