IPad help!

Am unfortunately clueless when it comes to IPads as we've always used basic android tablets.

Which IPad would be good for a 10 year old, used mostly to stay in contact with friends, watch YouTube etc?

She uses one at school but I've no idea which size/storage/anything else to look for.

All IPads seem to be out of stock everywhere anyway, so this may well be a pointless query 😁 but it would be good to know roughly what I'm looking for.

Just a basic model one - anything from the last couple of years worth of models should be decent enough. If you're wanting spend more - go up on the storage on it and avoid the Air models for a kid (the laminated displays on them make a cracked screen an eyewateringly expensive repair).

The screen size went up from 9.7inches to 10.2 inches on the basic model iPads in 2019 - so anything that screen size would be relatively up to date (7th gen - 2019, 8th gen 2020, 9th gen 2021) - mine currently have 6th generation models that are still perfectly fine for what they use them for (9-10 year old girl level use) - we're getting them new ones for Christmas but mainly as my mum needs a new iPad and one of the kids' ones is low on base storage so it's a good point to upgrade them.
