Supply chain issues - what can't you get?

I seem to have the same things on my shopping list week after week, because I can't find them. A few examples:

  • Kleenex balsam tissues
  • Quaker Oats so Simple - the fruit-flavoured ones
  • Sugar Free Rennie in large boxes
  • Orange Strepsils

Nothing.

PineappleWilson · 05/12/2021 07:17

In Aldi yesterday, the gaps were for frozen chicken and fish.

Nothing.

Skimmed milk seems to be in short supply. Often have to buy semi skimmed instead

SpookyScarySkeletons · 05/12/2021 07:37

No pasta in our Lidl for past 3 weeks!

Bordernotboarder · 05/12/2021 07:38

Childrens ibuprofen
Lots of varieties of crisps
Tesco own 9 pack toilet paper in white

Keladrythesaviour · 05/12/2021 07:47

Builders supplies! Doing a kitchen refurb and nowhere has bloody anything. It's driving us mental.

In the supermarkets I've struggled with fish fingers and ready meals recently - no macaroni cheese Angry not usually a problem as I cook from scratch but mid-kitchen refurb we are living off basics!

YetAnotherWalk · 05/12/2021 07:54

Kleenex for sure. None in our local Tesco or Waitrose and none in the online shop coming from a larger store today either. Might try Boots or Superdrug in town in the week.

Crisps were hit and miss for a while, but seems back to normal now.

Snack a jacks

Lonecatwithkitten · 05/12/2021 08:01

Cat vaccine - international problem. As a practice we were allocated what would normally last us a month in September to last till January.

BertiesShoes · 05/12/2021 08:14

Skimmed milk seems to be in short supply.

Plenty of it in the shops that I have visited in last few days.

Multi packs of crisps is the main one that I have noticed.

My DD works in bakery section of a large supermarket, their overnight bread delivery didn’t happen on 2/3 nights this week

MichaelGovesBeard · 05/12/2021 08:15

Can’t say I’ve noticed anything tbh.

Nocaloriesinchocolate · 05/12/2021 08:17

Brillo pads

QueefofSheena · 05/12/2021 08:20

Any building trades. I use a lot of contractors for work, the regulars fit us in when they can but if I need something they can’t do then forget it. I’ve lost count of the times I’ve been told there’s no availability for months. The ones who have laughed outright will go to the bottom of the list on future projects though, cos I’m a vindictive old boot.

TheBitterBoy · 05/12/2021 08:28

Sainsbury's have no bin bags, they usually sell a range of different sized kitchen bin liners, but in recent months almost nothing, with a big blue banner on their website saying some items are currently unavailable.

Also monster munch, but that's not strictly a supply chain issue, down to PepsiCos IT problems.

CakeWarrior · 05/12/2021 08:31

The new car i ordered in may. It should have come first week september. Now been told it will be april. I have a newborn and now carless until new one arrives as old one is not usable and the cost of second hand cars has rocketed so i cant afford a stop gap car and a newborn who need specialist hospital care twice a week at a hospital which is a 70 mile round trip. There are no "chips" for them apparently and no courtesy car for me to borrow.

Thepowerofthelook · 05/12/2021 08:33

Frozen cauliflower, multipack crisps and some gluten free products.

martim · 05/12/2021 08:33

DCs and DH are coeliac, so need gluten free items. Really struggling to get hold of decent pasta and gnocchi as well as some other staples.

BocolateChiscuits · 05/12/2021 08:59

Nothing.

In the Summer we had to drive a while to get postcrete, and we had a loft conversion and the builders had to wait a long time for ridge tiles and a particular fire door. But apart from that it was fine. And that was the Summer.

My tip is to get a locally ran veg box. We've been with one for years, and they've never skipped a beat. In the early days of the pandemic when the supermarket only had a few sad bits of spring onions in their veg section, they were delivering full boxes of veg as normal. They're supplied by lots of smaller farms that could easily isolate while working, and everything's transported locally in vans rather than HGVs, so they've been far more resilient.

Still problems with DW supply, I struggled to get one too, that was May this year.
sandgrown · 05/12/2021 09:08

Home Bargains poo bags and my son tried to get the new I phone 13 pro and was told it may be March before it is available. The problem is with supply from Apple apparently.

Empressofthemundane · 05/12/2021 09:11

Cars, appliances, anything with silicon chips in it.

TheDivineOddity · 05/12/2021 09:29

Cans of Lilt

MoiraNotRuby · 05/12/2021 09:33

Maple syrup, but I might be looking in the wrong shelf. Its not next to the date or agave syrup anyway.

I also can't get the expensive Uncle Ben's rice DS likes and he often has to make do with the own brand which is half the price. That's more of an issue with the very end of the supply chain, where I take it from the shelf to my trolley Wink
