Started a new job, and my colleagues are SO lovely

I started a new job 3 months ago. It's working in marketing and is completely new for me, I interviewed remotely so it felt like a big gamble that could have gone horribly wrong as you can't really get much of a feel for the company culture that way.

I just love it. It is so interesting and varied and fast-paced yet rewarding. My colleagues are so lovely and encouraging. Whenever I have good feedback from a client my colleagues will all rush to tell me well done and they will go off and tell or email my manager and senior staff about it. I had good feedback from a client the other day and three of my colleagues forwarded it on to the wider mailing list so more people could see it.

I feel so lucky. I had heard from friends horror stories of competitiveness and bitchiness in agency environments so I was nervous but everyone is so encouraging, it's such a great team to be a part of.

I don't even know why I'm posting this thread, I just have been doing some reflecting about work and realising how lucky I have been with this job.

That sounds great! Underlines how important giving good feedback is, too. I started a new job in September and also feel I've won the colleague lottery.

That’s really lovely to read. Good for you. I have been in my job for over a year now and have mostly really supportive, lovely colleagues. It makes such a difference.

Good for you! I work with the most amazing team too, predominately women. They’re the hardest working, most talented, funny, ambitious, helpful people I’ve ever encountered.

It makes life so much easier.

Well done op. I have a new job too and can’t believe how thoughtful and considerate people are. I keep waiting for the catch

I've been in my department for nearly 15 years and love it because my colleagues are so friendly and supportive. I have thought about looking for a job elsewhere but I just don't think I'd work in a better team. I know I'm so lucky because I see so many horror stories on here.

I’ll join in! Started a new job in the summer after years in my previous workplace, where my team was absolutely amazing. Can’t believe how lucky I’ve been with my new job. People couldn’t have been more welcoming and supportive. My team are a fantastic bunch. I already feel like I’ve known them for years and yes, lots of support & good feedback has really helped me find my feet. It makes such a difference.

I'm glad you're having such a positive experience OP.

I would say though that if there are deep seated issues with the agency it will take much longer than 3.months to see them. I have a new colleague who sounds a bit like yourself and she is also very happy etc. But the company is actually toxic and it took me about a year to fully see that. All the best though.
