Does anyone work in a bank?

I've recently discovered that I have a very modest sum of money in a bank account that was set up when I was a child. I'd like to access it because it will help with Christmas.

The account is in my maiden name and still in my childhood home address. I was wondering what documentation I'll need to prove my identity? I can take my change of name documents and evidence of my current name and address, but I don't know if I'll need to prove my connection to the old address?

Why not contact the actual bank and ask? Far better than asking randoms on the internet who may or may not be able to give you the correct information.

I assume that the OP is hoping to save herself many hours of phoning call centres, being asked to select options and being told repeatedly that her call is important whilst being on hold for ages. I get it. She’s looking for info from people who work in actual banks, to short circuit the tiresome processes she will have to endure in order to ‘contact the bank and ask’.

Exactly right. I've been told things by banks on the phone before and then been told the opposite in a branch.

Plus I'd rather avoid going into the branch twice. I just want to get this done in one go.
