Verisure alarm adverts

Who signed them off? They're worse than the over 50s life insurance adverts!

OP posts:

My DH was moaning it made the men look thick.

Nidan2Sandan · 04/12/2021 16:02

It was the one where they woman rings her husband about the neighbours being burgled that got me. There was no concern for their poor neighbours just a desire to get an alarm. Not even a "did they take much?" Or "is Betty okay" just felt more of a "thank fuck it wasnt us!" Vibe

BunnyBusiness · 08/07/2022 17:14

I thought these alarms must be incredible if they can stop it getting dark early in the winter!😂

BunnyBusiness · 08/07/2022 17:17

See I thought the 'it could have been us', meant they had been out on the Rob and it could have been a house they had done over.

PinkArt · 08/07/2022 18:31

I love them! It feels like there are 100s of them that just popped up overnight. They're are all So Intense and everyone speaks with the same weird urgency and not remotely like any actual person has ever spoken.

takeitandleaveit · 08/07/2022 18:39

We used to live opposite a copper and he said that all you need is a box on the wall with a little flashing light on it. No alarm, just the box. Grin

To the latest of these adverts... 3 guys sitting on a Sofa, 2 of them saying how good verisure are, and the 3rd one - on the right as we look - says something that I can't make out, sounds like "is it conscious?" What is he saying???

prampushingdownthehighst · 03/12/2022 15:03

Please knock me unconscious??

ortonym · 03/12/2022 16:06

Haha 😂. No, that's me.

Emberness · 03/12/2022 16:25

Jim..Jim...Tim? Love it

The customer seems so rude to that barista, at the end. "At least you got the alarm right"? ODFOD.

Completely cringeing 😬. Feel like slapping the pair of them. Severely.
Does anybody have an answer to my original question? I mean what's the guy saying in the other [new] Verisure ad?

Piffpaffpoff · 03/12/2022 17:14

“They came in through the garden!” has entered me and DH’s lexicon of phrases we can say with no context to make the other laugh. I think that was part of their summar campaign😂

Piffpaffpoff · 03/12/2022 17:14

Summer! Not summar (whatever that is)

ifIwerenotanandroid · 03/12/2022 17:17

Sorry, @ortonym, I can't tell you. I've tried watching it but I fade out - it's that boring. This is known in our house as 'the Geordie La Forge effect'. I don't know why, but as soon as he started to explain anything to do with engineering, my mind wandered off. The same thing happens to me with weather forecasts, no matter how hard I try. But next time the advert comes on, I'll try to pay attenti... zzz...

But at least the "customer" manages to pick up the cup and make it look as though there's something in it. I can't understand why they don't put water or even some plasticine in coffee cups on screen to give them a bit of weight. Drives me mad.

I think he says something like " should I get one"? So the other two say "yes"!! Really loudly..

I hate all these Verisure ads with a vengeance and I'm really disappointed with myself that I remember this one. 😩

ifIwerenotanandroid · 03/12/2022 17:46

Some of the earlier ads are on youtube. I watched & it reminded me that in the neighbours being burgled one, the wife says, "I'll call straight away," but she runs the last two words together & for a while I assumed the name of the alarm company was Straightaway.

NancyPickford · 06/12/2022 12:02

The latest two - Barista and Rude Customer, and Three Guys On A Sofa, wind me up so much. I still can't make out what Third Guy says at the end. The Verisure ads make 'It's June, dad!' look like something by the RSC.

TiredButAlive · 06/12/2022 12:05

I think it's actually a deliberate ploy .... make an advertising campaign so bloody awful it's both memorable and gets people talking and commenting on social media. Achieves the same as excellent advertising but for a fraction of the cost!

Doormatnomore · 06/12/2022 12:09

the rude customer one drives me crazy! So unnecessarily rude, the barista got your name wrong, maybe he didn’t take the order, maybe you mumbled cause you can’t look up from your phone or maybe you just took Jim’s coffee!! If you’re the only one there so you know it’s not Jim’s coffee then you were deliberately rude not just ignorant.

Oooh yes. Finally deciphered it. In a black country accent he says "Think oi should" whereupon the other 2 jump in with an overpowering "yes". Problem is that he doesn't deliver it like an interrupted sentence, more like those 3 words are the sentence. Oh, and the nudgey bloke who comes on has been added to my list of TV ad "personalities" that I wouldn't get tired of slapping severely about the face.

billyt · 07/12/2022 13:29

I've been in the Security industry for over 30 years. These adverts do my head in. Dumbing down what is an essential purchase for lots of people. Apart from the fact the adverts are such fucking shit.

An aside. They advertise same day fitting. No company with their salt could provide that. It seems that the 'surveyor' comes out and sells it to you and expects a decision there and then. And he then fits it himself using a kit supplied by Verisure. Couple of experienced engineers I know had interviews, found this out and thought why would we not just do it for ourselves?

billyt · 07/12/2022 13:31

worth their salt....

We're here to protect Grin

Tickles me the way he sounds just like Lady Mary. And they have that creepy man from Pure Cremation ads - these must be a job creation scheme for really bad actors
