Boiler problem, is this an emergency?

Sorry I know this is so dull. I've got this issue and I don't know if it's serious or not? Heating and hot water working fine. It's just me and baby in the house so I'm panicking a bit that it's going to explode or something?

I have no one I can ask! The left hand bar is flashing full and then empty, also the pilot light (the little flame?) keeps going out and then firing up again.. any ideas?

Have you got the make and model number?

Technically, it shouldn't be an issue because the boiler should automatically shut itself off if the pressure is too high, but you should get someone to come look at it this weekend if you can.

Have you recently "topped up" the boiler?

Looks like the pressure may be low. Does it usually sit at 1/1.5? X

Yeah I thought high pressure? Yes I topped it up as we were away for a few days and when we came back the pressure was low and I couldn't turn on the heating. Make and model is themaclassic f24e, I checked the instructions but can't see anything about the pressure bar flashing!

@dementedpixie is right, your pressure is too high, needs to be about 1-1.5 bar.

So first off get rid of some pressure and see what that does,

Yep, bleed the radiators but don't do it while the heatings on else you could burn yourself.
Are you sure the valves on the filling loop are closed properly?

Yes I think it’s high pressure too.

To reduce the water pressure you need to turn off the boiler, let the radiators go cold and then bleed all the radiators that you can.
The turn the boiler back on and see where the pressure is.

It should never be over 2, that’s why your boiler is complaining.

Okay that sounds like a good action plan for the morning. Am I okay to leave the heating on overnight, or at least set it to come on a couple of times? I'm 99% sure the valve is closed (not sure you would be able to tell from a photo but anyway).

Ordinarily I would say don’t use it, but it’s too cold not to so do.
It should be safe to continue using tonight, the boiler will turn itself off if the pressure goes to a dangerous pressure.

Just try to get it sorted tomorrow as it’s not something you should leave for very long.

Personally I'd leave them off overnight and bleed the radiators first thing, but not if you are somewhere it's going to be so cold you risk the pipes freezing!

Dont you have an attachable hose that runs from pipe to pipe for repressurising,
I just let some of the water out !

Do you usually have the heating on overnight ? Surely the temp wont drop enough for it to warrant it

Hi everyone, ended up getting someone out as my radiator key didn't fit most of the radiators. He has brought the pressure right down and if it goes back up I'm getting the expansion vessle (?) replaced. Thanks again everyone

I’m glad you got it sorted.

In future (to save yourself some money) virtually all radiators ca be bled just using a screwdriver or an adjustable spanner.

As said, pressure is far too high. It could be something else, but we had this when we had an air leak in boiler - the problem won't go away and will get worse - we ended up with the engineer calling every day to pump air into boiler (to keep it going) until part arrived. Do you have an outside outlet from the boiler? If so, is it dripping? That's another sign something isn't quite right.

Personally, I'd get it looked at today.

Sorry, just read your last post. I remember now, it was the expansion vessel in our case, so sounds like chap knows what he's talking about.
