Anyone else's children keep getting respiratory infections?

My little boy will be 3 in March, he started nursery in august and since then he's basically had a cough!

He was in hospital 3 weeks ago as he was struggling to breath, high temp, lathargic, wouldn't eat or drink. They said he had an upper respiratory infection and an ear infection. Gave him a course of antibiotics to take. After that course he had another ear infection so more antibiotics. Now he's got another upper respiratory infection and on more antibiotics.

Before this he has another respiratory infection which then lead to what they said was post nasal drip. I just feel like he gets them every two weeks and it's so sly on him.

Doctors have said they don't think it's anything underlying as it's just that time of year and with us being in a pandemic they said more children are getting sick. They said if he has another one they will look into it more.

Can I demand they look into it more now? I just don't think it's normal for him to be this sick all the time?

Anyone else's children go through this or something similar and can give me some advice?

When my kids were at nursery they constantly had coughs & colds, and we had our fair share of tummy bugs too. It is perfectly normal. My kids are now teenagers and have rarely had a day off school since they started.
It’s very tedious when they are little with all these snotty colds but ultimately it builds their immune systems and as they get older they will be less prone to picking things up.
The pandemic hasn’t helped as we have all been shielded from the normal viruses we are exposed to. Hope it’s a phase that passes soon.
