Bleeding after intercourse

Hi, just wanting abit of advice.
I'm bleeding fresh blood after having intercourse with my partner, this has happened the last 3 times we had intercourse over the past couple weeks. I dont bleed before literally just after we have finished, go wipe my self on the toilet and theres been quite abit of blood there. I have been with him for 6 years and this has never happened before only recently started happening. Has anyone had this and can shed some light as to what it might be? I'm getting really worried :(

I had belleding after sex and it was Cervical ectropion, it happens when cells that line the inside of your cervix grow on the outside. These cells are redder and are more sensitive than the cells typically on the outside, which is why they may cause symptoms, like bleeding.

They cauterised the cells and it was fine after.

Definitely get it seen to to rule out anything more sinister.

I second getting checked out though its likely to be innocuous.

Have you fallen into having sex less regularly? I find that if I've gone at least 10 days between "sessions" I sometimes get a bit of soreness and spots of blood. I think it's just the sudden return of friction. Having sex more regularly seems to keep me adjusted to the friction if that makes sense.

It’s probably nothing serious as there are many non-sinister causes but you should talk to your GP.

Same here. I had uterine polyps as well and they were actually removing those but said that the cervical ectropion was more likely to be the cause.

Same here. I didn't have mine cauterised, but experimented with changing pill first - the doctor suggested it might have been caused by being on the combined pill, so I went on the mini pill instead and have had no issues since.

Do get it checked out, though - as PP say, it can also signify more worrying things, so good to rule that out, but ectropion is easy to resolve once you know what it is :-)
