Hi all, my 15 week old baby has had a constant blocked nose since she was 5 weeks old. We have tried everything from humidifier, steam, nasal sprays and suckers. Calpol plug ins etc... Nothing works. We've seen 3 different GP's all who say there's nothing they can do for a blocked nose. Every night my baby wakes up struggling to breathe through her nose and everynight I have to clear it for her. I'm going out of my mind that no one seems to have a solution. If anyone has experienced similar with their babies or anyone has any idea what this is then please respond. Anything at this moment would be beneficial. Thank you.

Presume nobody in the house smokes and there are no pets? Could it be anything in the room such as feathers in the bedding? Fabric softner?
Is there a lot of mucous in her nose when you clear it?
I suggest you move this to children's health or even to chat as I dont think there is much traffic here. Just report and ask mn to move it or repost. You might get more suggestions in a busier part of the board.

Have you asked your health visitor for advice?

RP2211 · 03/12/2021 05:48

Thank you for the advice. I will repost in the other areas you have suggested. Yes I saw my health visitor on Wednesday who just seemed as oblivious as me as everything she suggested we've already tried. The GP just says she'll grow out of it...

Hi,

I had the exact same problem it was very frustrating.

We used the same products but I will say that we used Sterimar nasal spray which was a godsend.

Side note- I created an Instagram account @fortheloveoffamilyhome I would love for you guys to follow as I will be posting hauls, recipes and other fun stuff x

I use this spray. It helps to clear her nose quickly but hasn't improved it over time. Thank you for replying.

Hi OP. Is your baby in discomfort anywhere else?
After 10 weeks of this I’d be inclined to seek a second opinion (maybe the out of hours GP at the hospital?).
Im no expert but I have heard of a blocked nose in infants being indicative of other problems. Worth a second opinion I’d say.
